Peter Parker/Spiderman POV

I sat on top of the Empire State building, tuning into the police scanners around the area. Taking a deep breath, I looked up into the dark night sky. This was probably the last night I'd be able to sit up here without a cold breeze. It was about the same time three years ago that I had been up here with Gwen....

I immediately knocked my head with my hand. The memory had slipped through the defenses I had put up. "Get a hold of yourself, you've moved on." Thankfully, my ears picked up some interesting chatter on the scanner to distract myself.

"Code L. I repeat, we have a Code L just off of Doyers Street. Abandoned building close to the docks. Guess she found another new mob spot."

I put the scanner back in my bag and immediately swung off to Doyers Street. What is a Code L? Are they finally changing up their boring police lingo? And I guess the chief had been investigating gang spots lately.

The wind whistled past my ears as I swung fast through the night. If I had to guess, I would say I was traveling about 80 mph just from swinging. It helped take my mind off the pain of the past. This stinging wind was really the only feeling I felt anymore. Except for anger. That was a very reoccurring feeling. But I'll deal with it later. I have a city to take care of.

------------------------

I swung fast to the destination stated on the police scanner. I landed on a building a fair distance away from the gang's hideout, since I still wasn't buddy buddy with the police.

Examining the outside of the building, I realized there was a pile of men at the door of the building. Held with a mass of webs. The police didn't even hesitate. They just started pulling the men out one by one and piling them into cars. Like they knew they were going to arrest all of them tonight.

Wow, Miles must've done all this on his own. Why didn't he call me? This would've been way too big and dangerous of a job for him. I whipped out my phone out of my bad and immediately dialed him.

"Hola Peter!"

"Hey Miles! I saw what you did tonight, I can't believe you got all those guys by yourself! Where are you? Let me take you out for some pizza!" In response, all I heard was a bunch of coughing. "You good buddy?"

He clears his throat, "Y-yeah. Sorry *ahem* you just surprised me. I didn't think you would congratulate me on that."

"Well, it's awesome! Are you the Code L I heard about on the police scanner? If so, man I'm jealous. I've always wanted my own cool code name-"

"Oh no. I don't even know what Code L is. But yeah I just knew the police were investigating......So I stopped it?"

"Why do you sound so hesitant?" I said laughing.

"I don't even know. Haha. You said you wanted to get pizza?"

"Yeah for sure! Let's celebrate!"

"O-okay, I'll meet you at times square." I agreed and hung up the phone. I chuckled at how nervous he sounded.

Most of the police had gone into the building to investigate further, so I swung down to check out the pile of bad guys. They looked pretty beat up, but there were no electrical burns. Which was weird. That was the main thing Miles fought with. I examined the webs holding them down, they had a slight purple tint to them.

Huh, he must be trying out something new. I shrugged and then swung off, I didn't want to be late to meet Miles again.

Lilah's POV

As soon as I landed on my balcony, I got a phone call from Miles.

"Hey dude what's u--"

"PETER LITERALLY ALMOST CAUGHT YOU. HE THINKS I DID THAT WHOLE THING."

"Woah, woah. Slow down. What do you mean?"

I could hear the wind whipping around his phone speakers. "He was listening to the police scanner and heard your little Code L from the police. He then went to go check out the crime scene and saw the webs. He now thinks I did it and now we are meeting up to have pizza."

"So he didn't almost catch me."

"He now knows your little Code name."

"Well you call me L, so it's fine. It could literally be anything."

"I know, but still. And now I have to go lie to his face for close to an hour! You know I hate doing that!"

I hesitated and then smiled, "I'll give you $20 dollars for the trouble." Everything was quiet except for the wind.

"You owe me more than that."

"I agree. How about we work together once in the following week?"

"No way...You don't like working with other people."

"I don't. But you aren't as annoying. And I owe you. So how about it?"

"Even better deal than the $20." I chuckled at his excitement.

"Have a fun night Miles!"

Hanging up the phone, I unlocked my balcony doors. I drew the curtains and pulled my mask off. You would never realize how hard it is to breathe in a mask that covers your entire face until you have to fight a whole gang in one. Even after a year it still took some getting used to.

I lay on the floor of my apartment and took a deep breath. Finally relaxing after patrolling all day and most of the night. It wasn't a big luxurious penthouse. It was just comfortable. The living room and kitchen were in very close proximity, and not very big. But it was perfect for me. I had moved away from my parents in Pennsylvania to go to NYU for fashion. It had been a while since I've talked to them. I made a mental note to call them before going out to patrol tomorrow.

I released my hair from its prison of a ponytail. I hated having to keep it tucked under my suit, but I didn't want some felon using it against me. I walked down the small hallway to the bathroom and let my long brown hair fall down my back on the way there.

A glance at the clock told me it was already 2 AM. Great. I'm going to be tired all day during class tomorrow. I brushed my hair, pulled on some pajamas, and headed to my room. This room was the reason I bought the apartment in the first place. It had a window seat on the left and was big enough to fit most of my sewing equipment. The room was strewn with bolts of cloth and spools of spare thread.

I finally settled into bed, happy tonight had gone well. Nothing had gone against my plan, and I had taken out the power to the building before I hit most of them. So no one actually knew what hit them. It was the best thing that could have happened.
