Lilah's POV
Against Peter's warning, I decided to go to class the next day. My broken ribs had just turned into a soreness. So there was nothing to worry about. At least to me.
Peter on the other hand, was being strangely overprotective.
I started on my way to class and admired the blue sky. Since I had been with Peter so much in the last few days, it felt weird with him not somewhere near. He had gone back to his apartment to grab some stuff, and he still thought I was in bed.
He might be slightly frustrated with me, but he couldn't stop me. I felt better so I was going to finally leave my apartment.
I arrived on campus after a 15 minute walk and headed towards the lecture hall. I felt my phone buzzing in my pocket, but I ignored it, knowing that Peter was trying to get me home. He'd figure out where I was eventually.
I entered the hall about 10 minutes early to talk to Dr. Jennings about some missing work. I waved to get her attention.
"Hi, Dr. Jennings. Do you have the missing work that I emailed you about?"
"Hello Lilah! Yes I do. Hows your broken rib doing? I'm surprised you are moving around already." I had told her I slipped down the stairs to my apartment. I wasn't good at lying, but great at telling half-truths.
"You know nothing can keep me down. I couldn't just sit there and do nothing. I wanted to be at least a little productive, so coming to class was the least I could do."
"I do know that. How has the tutoring with Peter going?" She laughed and handed me a small pile of papers.
"It's going great, I helped him to finish one of our last projects."
"I saw that. Thank you so much for helping him."
"Of course!" I gave my thanks for the stack of homework and went to take a seat.
Pulling out my phone, I saw that I two missed calls from Peter and multiple missed texts. The texts reading, "Where are you?" "Did you go to class?" "Please tell me you didn't" "I don't want you to hurt yourself"
I only texted one thing back, "Peter, you are not the boss of me. I can do whatever I want." I put my phone away and watched as more people spilled through the doors. The class became decently full, so the professor started her lecture. Thankfully the texts from Peter had stopped.
At first I was a little lost, but I eventually figured it out. I had a lot of homework to catch up on.
I got a text while she was talking. It was Miles. He had checked up on me a lot the past two days and I know he felt bad he couldn't be there to help.
"Hey, how are you?"
I sent back a quick reply, "I'm doing great! I actually went to class today."
"I'm surprised Peter let you"
"I can do whatever I want. And... he may not know that I'm here."
"OoOoOo, he's gonna get mad at you."
"Why should he? He's not my boyfriend or anything; why does he care so much?"
"I don't even think Peter has figured out why he cares so much"
I was confused at his reply. "Wdym?"
He sent back a laughing emoji, "Just forget I said anything"
I put my phone back down and laughed internally. Miles was so weird sometimes.
