Chapter 03: New cars, old scars

Rosa's POV
I walked outside to see Bella flirting with Jacob who was uncomfortable while Mom, Dad, Aunt Sarah, and Uncle Billy were chatting beside two trucks.

I smiled and happily cheered "Uncle Billy! Aunt Sarah!" The man in question looked up and said "Rosa! Good to see you! You grew up beautiful, like Sarah said you would!"

Aunt Sarah laughed and nudged her wheelchair bound husband playfully before walking over and embracing me.I hugged back, and walked over to hug my Uncle.

"Nice tats!" An enthusiastic voice piped up. I turned to face my childhood friend and smirked "Ya like?" I gave him a twirl making him laugh "I love!" He embraced me as well.

Mom and dad laughed before dad asking "So what do you girls think?" As he patted one of the three trucks that my aunt and uncle had brought. I instantly knew what he meant, but Bella didn't get the memo.

"About what?" She asked dumbly, and Billy piped up "You're homecoming presents!" Her eyes widened and she asked breathlessly startled "Seriously?" I cheered and said "They're awesome! Thank you guys so much!" I hugged everyone (except for Bella) and kissed them on the cheek.

Jacob laughed and said "Yeah, I totally rebuilt the engines and redid the paint!" "Wicked handy work my man" I said as dad gave me and Bella our keys and pointed out our trucks to us.

He laughed again and said "Thanks!" He showed us how our new trucks worked. I could tell that Bella didn't really like her truck, but decided to keep her moth shut in front of guests.

After that mom fried up Uncle Harry's fish, and we had dinner. Afterwards we said goodbye to the Blacks' and they drove off in their black truck.

We went inside and Bella and I started getting ready for bed. We brushed our teeth and washed our faces. I walked into my room with a glass of water and took my medicine, and changed into pajamas.

When mom and dad walked in they quietly shut the door behind them and gave me a serious look. I was wondering when this conversation would come up.

Dad spoke first "Do all your tattoos cover up your scars?" I nodded and said "Yeah, except for the ones on my pointer fingers /"and my back" mom approached me and gently started tracing my tattoos to feel the scars underneath them.

(Remember two on her hips {the dandelion with birds and the dragon}, three on her thighs the big picture with the starry galaxy with the quote 'But without darkness, we'd never see the stars, and the crescent moon with the forest}, the 'Not Today' one one arm and the infinity rose/butterfly on the other, the heartbeat and 'Warr;or' on her pointer fingers, and finally the angel wings with the quote on her back.)

She tearfully sighed. Dad asked "You taking your meds?" I nodded, and he said "Good" mom spoke up and said "You'll be seeing Dr. Hendricks on Saturday. Please show up" I looked at the floor and nodded while saying "Yes, ma'am" she kissed the top of my head and they both wished me goodnight which I mumbled back.

I took out all my piercings, and put them on my nightstand.

I slid under the covers and turned of the light. I laid there waiting for the medicine to kick in and pull me into a dreamless sleep.

I knew that they wanted to ask. That they wanted an explanation. Honestly, I don't know why I did it. I just wanted everything to stop. The pain, the anxiety, the stress, the whirlwind that swallowed my whole existence whole, but there was no escape.

Just brief moments of relief in the form of tiny red lines and white pills.

With that thought in mind I drifted into a dreamless sleep.
