Calliope Rodman woke up earlier than usual mornings. It was a school day and she would tend to sleep in, trying to avoid it at all cost but this time, it was different. They were going to the aquarium for a trip and she made sure to sleep really early. Caesar wasn't glad about that. They promised to watch their favourite movie, Coraline. And she left it half way. But he understood and overall was happy for her.
The door banged opened with a force as she pushed it yet that never got her father to wake. Tip toeing like the cartoon characters she watched on the TV, she reached the bed and leaped onto her fast asleep father who woke with a start.
"Wake up sleepy head, the earth says hello!"
He blinked a few times as she repeatedly yells, "Come on, daddy, wake up, wake up, wake up! It's time for school, time for school!" she jumped on the bed joyfully whilst waking her grumpy father to his senses. "Oh boy, oh boy, I'm so excited!"
Will growls softly and turned to the nightstand, reaching for the watch on top of it. "What?" his croaky voice could muster, "It's five in the morning." he slumped back on his pillow, watching his daughter with tired eyes.
She stopped jumping instantly and placed her hands on her hips, "Education never sleeps, Mr Rodman. Now get up before I bring in the big guns."
He snorted, "What are the big guns?" she gasps hysterically, "is that a challenge?" and before he knew it, she pounced on his chest and tickled his sides. "Stop! Calliope Natalia Rodman-" even her full name didn't get her to stop as he laughed, trying to catch his breath. "I am speaking to you!"
"Oh, I hear you." she said in her sassy toy, "I just don't care."
"Oh you're gonna get it now." and immediately, she stopped. She tried to run but he had already wrapped his strong arms around her, pulling her towards his arm and blowing raspberries on her neck making her laugh. "No, don't! Have mercy!"
"Oh, I have mercy," Will started, "I just don't care!" he quoted her. "Someone, help!" and soon, loud hooting was heard that he didn't see it coming. Will was tackled by the chimp who's strength grew more and more. The two were caught in a wrestling match as Cal giggled at her saviour. Ah, mornings like these are the best, she thought to herself.
"Alright, alright, enough!" Will laughed.
Caesar hooted joyfully, balling his fists and hitting his chest in victory. Their laughter subsides, "Okay, go get ready-" Will stops dead on his tracks as he saw she was dressed in her school uniform. "Oh, you are ready. . . . odd change." he cheekily grinned secretly knowing the reason why.
"It's my last day of school, silly!" she told him, getting off the bed. "now get out of bed! I made breakfast!" she says, dragging his foot and her brother pant-hooted doing the same with his other foot.
