"I thought you broke up," Bruna said.

"Yes, but you know how the story goes," Maïa stated, "We always go back together."

I was stunned and had no words to speak as I leaned against the chair in front of our seats.

"But anyway," she spoke, "see you at the celebration, Bruna. Let's go, Ethan."

Ethan was right next to me, hugged me and said, "bye, we need to plan the car ride later."

I put on the best smile, returned the hug and nodded. They left, and I sat back on my chair, not so sad but primarily confused.

B and Bruna wanted to hug me, but I asked not to with my parents being there and all. When they realized I was in a bad mood, I just blamed it because we lost the game.

A few moments later, my parents got up to greet some friends that were starting to appear.

"Are you okay?" B asked me.

"I don't want to talk about it," I said.

"This is so confusing," Bruna commented, "like what the fuck?!"

"Did Ney tell you something?" B asked Bruna.

"No!" She answered.

"Guys, I appreciate you, but I don't think this is the time and place to talk about it," I calmly told them.

They respected my wishes and agreed, so I said, "they should probably be done with the interview now; let's go."

We headed downstairs, and I contemplated what I would do or say when I saw him.

When we got to the private area for players and staff outside the locker rooms, the first person we saw was Ney, that was grinning in glee from his victory. Bruna ran straight to him, and he picked her up in a hug.

"Congratulations on the goal and the win, Ney," I said to him as he put Bruna down.

"Thank you so much," he said, "too bad you picked the wrong team."

"Red devil for life," I whispered loud enough for him to hear, which made him laugh.

We talked for a bit before Thilo joined us and finally Kylian. He came over, greeted everyone and when he got to me, smiled at me and said, "Hi."

"Hey," I replied, without looking at him in the eyes.

He then placed his hand on my chin and gently moved it to the side till I made eye contact with him and asked, "how are you?"

"I'm okay, you?" I responded, and he took his handoff.

"I'm good," he answered, then he leaned in closer to my ear and asked, "Is everything alright?"

My heart started to beat faster, and as I was about to answer honestly, a voice from before yelled, "Kylian, we were looking for you."

He turned back to see Maïa and Ethan. His brother took a moment to greet him and Neymar.

"Kiki, it was so great watching you play," Maïa said to him. He had a confused expression and then took her somewhere a bit distant that we couldn't hear them speak.

Moments later, Marcus came, greeted me with a hug, and I said, "congratulations on your goal, it was awesome to see."

"Thank you," he smirked, "too bad it wasn't enough for a win."

"Well, you did all you could," I mentioned, "and as a fan, I think it was a brilliant game; you even made them sweat a bit."

Ney laughed and made a so-so gesture. But then hugged him out of good sportsmanship.

"When are you going back home?" I asked Marcus.

"Tomorrow morning," he answered, "we have another game on Thursday, Premier League."

"Ohh yes, against the Spurs," I remembered, "tough one, but you'll be fine."

"Hope so," he said, "how about you?"

"Well, my life is in Paris," I said, "I don't think there's anything left for me in Manchester, but I do want to go visit someday."

"If you ever decide to go," he began to say, "just remember that I'm there for you."

"Thank you, Marcus; I'll let you know," I replied with a smile as he walked back to his teammates.

"Are you coming to the celebration dinner at Ney's?" Thilo asked me.

"I think I'm gonna sit this one out," I answered, with work tomorrow and all."

"Are you sure?" Bruna asked.

"Yeah," I said, "I hope you guys have fun. I'll go back home with my parents."

"Alright, see you later," B said.

"I'll see you," I replied.

I turned around and went looking for them so we could leave. I eventually found them surrounded by some of my father's friends. I politely greeted them all before my mom took me to the side.

"Is everything okay, sweetie?" She asked.

"Yes, mom."

"You seem a bit down," she said as she held me close.

"It's nothing, mom," I clarified.

"You like that boy, don't you?"

My eyes widened, and I couldn't believe how much she saw through me. "How did you know?" I asked.

"A mother knows," she claimed, "now tell me what's going on."

I told her the most summarized version of the story without including unnecessary details. How we meet, the time we spent together, the kiss and finally Maïa.

"That seems complicated," she said.

"Yes, it is," I said, "and frustrating."

"Everything will be okay, sweetheart," she said.

"Any advice?" I asked.

"Honey, this is beyond my field of expertise," she said, "but I'm sure you'll be fine; if you need to talk, I'm always here."

"Thank you, mom."

"Ready to go, ladies?" My dad asked.

"Yes," my mom answered.

I arrived home to an empty apartment, took a long bath and went straight to bed. I didn't know if I should cry or be angry at this person I thought liked me as much as I liked him. I thought I could easily drift off to sleep, but I couldn't, so I just laid there.

*doorbell rings*

I look at the time 11:30 pm (23:30). Did B forget her keys or something?

I went over to the door and checked who it was before opening it. It was Kylian.
