Chap 3: Don't leave me

I was qualified for a mission! I was going to going to space. I can't believe it!

Octavia's POV
After signing the notice slip with my initials I pushed through the crowd and quickly ran to Keith's dorm.

"Kogane open up! Hurry up Mullet!" I whined loudly while knocking on the door as hard as I could. Keith opener the door looking like he'd been dragged backwards through the desert. He probably just woke up.

But who gives a crap, I was to happy to care my dream was finally coming true! I jumped into his arms making us fall on the ground. We stayed there for a little bit before I processed he wasn't coming with.

Keith's POV
I was awoken to some loud banging on my dorm door, groaning I got out of bed and opened the door only to be jumped by Octavia. The both of us fell to the ground as she squeezed my tighter.

She was huffing quite loudly she must've seen the mission notice and ran to tell me. After a while we both sat up and I chuckled slightly, still trying to wake up properly.

"Well, hello to you too Via." Our eyes made contact and that's when I realised she had a hurt look on her face. "Why did you reject the mission Mullet. If you come with we could explore the universe together. It would be amazing to experience!"

I sighed and moved in my spot uncomfortably, how can I tell her about Shiro without getting upset in front of her?-

"Um, well it's best I tell you inside and with the door shut." I gave her a weak smile and got to my feet, helping her to her feet aswell.

She reluctantly agrees, still slightly upset at me as I close the door and sit on my bed patting the spot next to me.

"Do you remember the Kerberos Mission?" I asked quietly as she sat down and nodded slowly. "Yea, the team was attacked and went missing. Are you scared?"

She tilted her head, sending me a concerned look. I shook my head and trying to hide the tears threatening to fall to my eyes. "God I miss him so much-" I whispered to myself, my voice cracking.

I flinched when I felt Octavia place her hand on my shoulder. "Keith, it's okay. What's wrong." She started to look at me more worried.

I took a deep breath in, trying to compose myself. "The Pilot on that mission. He took me in when my dad died and has been a brother to me ever since. I can't bring myself to go out there. Please don't go too." Tears slowly started falling down my face.

If I lost Octavia as well I don't know what I'd do. She hugged me tightly and rubbed my back in hopes to calm me down. "Please don't leave me too..."

Octavia's POV
It broke my heart when Keith told me his brother went missing on the Kerberos Mission, I had never seen him get emotion like this before.

If anything the only time he shows emotions is when he's grumpy. I pulled him in for a tight hug and rubbed his back softly.

"I'm so sorry Keith- But I've been working towards this my whole life. It's like I'm missing something and that something is space." I started tearing up as well.

"I'll spend everyday with you as much as I can before the Atlas mission. We have until the day after Lances party to be together." The tears fell and Keith hugged me back, burying he's head in my neck. "O-Okay.."
