Tubbo felt the early summer breeze on his face from the window of his quarters. He reached for his amulet that was around his neck. It's been seven years since he'd found the first white lily flower in centuries but it was still one of his most prized possessions. He had requested it to be encased in a protective clear quartz crystal so he could carry it around everywhere. Since then, He's never gone a day without wearing it. The King has received reports of white lily flowers blooming all over the kingdom. It'd become the kingdom's biggest trading asset and has brought so much wealth. While that did make the people happy, It always seemed as if every report made the King and Queen more and more anxious. It was so strange. As far as they knew, Zariya was the only kingdom in all the land to have these flowers naturally bloom. These legendary flowers have become incredibly common and have brought so much prosperity. Although, they are different from regular plants. No one has discovered how to manually regrow them or how to extract their seeds. Many have tried but none have succeeded. So most of the flowers are stored away for emergencies. Tubbo was only sixteen years old but he already had bright sights ready for his future. Things in the castle have been pretty hectic over the past year, mainly because his older brother, Wilbur, is a few months away from his twenty-first birthday. Which meant he'd be crowned King of Zariya in less than a year.
It was absolutely insane. His brother would be a KING in less than a year. It was amazing and all but on Tubbo's eighteenth birthday, he'd immediately be assigned to be a member of the royal council. And since he was the second born, he'd be somewhat of a 'Second in command' or a 'king while the king is away' until the king marries. The thing is, Tubbo has never wanted that life. Of course, he was incredibly grateful to be born into such a noble role but... he wanted to see the world. He wanted to explore all of the lands. Surely there was more to life than fancy balls, eternal wealth, and ruling a kingdom alongside his family. He loved his family more than anything, yes, but this desire was something that called to him no matter what.
Being Prince is grand and all but he was never allowed outside of the castle walls without an escort. It was usually so awkward and people treated him so differently. He knew the dangers of being Prince of a Kingdom so prosperous. Someone could easily use him to exploit his family. That's what almost happened to Wilbur when he was only a few weeks old. Someone had broken into the nursery and threatened to kill him if his demands weren't met but thankfully, he was uncoordinated and unprepared. The guards were easily able to restrain him without harming little Wilbur. Maybe that was why his parents were always so hesitant to let them prance around without someone to watch them. Even now they're so hesitant to have their children without company when they travel too far. With Wilbur too! He excels at almost all types of combat and yet they still couldn't trust him at twenty years old.
Tubbo let out a small giggle as he allowed his thoughts to take over his mind. When his doors opened, he turned around to meet the eyes of his help and friend, Jack Manifold, "Ya know if you stay in your room all day fantasizing about whatever it is this time, maybe you'd be able to catch your father's big announcement." He told him playfully with a hint of sarcasm. Jack is a nineteen-year-old boy who had been a servant working at the castle ever since he was twelve and had been Tubbo's main servant ever since he was ten. During that time, they were able to grow a bond as friends. Jack had dreams of being part of the royal council. He envied how the princes didn't have to work to pay for their education and how they were immediately appointed after turning eighteen.
Jack didn't care how long it took, he will be part of that council and he will dedicate his time there to helping citizens like himself. At first, he sucked up to Tubbo because if you were over eighteen, educated, and loyal to the kingdom, you had a chance to be part of it. If you were recommended by a noble, your chance went up by a thousand, and if that noble was an immediate member of the royal family, it was almost guaranteed. But Jack ended up really liking Tubbo as a person. He tried to do the same with Tommy but he was insufferable. He was so loud and irritating. He didn't acknowledge how hard it was for the working class. It pissed him off so much. It took him so much to not cuss him out because if he even dared disrespect him, his chances would be gone for good. It wasn't so bad though. He got along with Tubbo and grew to become extremely close with the kingdom's head baker, Nihachu, or Niki for short.
