Twenty seven

Idalia

It was surprising to see him in his demon form and it was even more surprising when I reached demon form as well. I didn't know I could do that or how to do it. I guess too much lust can trigger it.

I feel the heat pulsating between my legs and squeeze them together as Cade holds my hand in my lap. I feel the energy surging through his touch and bite my lower lip. Damn him! He is playing a very dirty game!

"You two are very loud!" My aunt Luna says and I blush furiously while Cade smiles in the corner of his mouth. He is very proud of himself.

"If I may add, before you go and get on it like rabbits..." she stops for the maximum effect and I feel my face burning.

"Idalia, remember that if you get pregnant, you won't be able to shift during that period!" Her words struck me like lightning. How could I have forgotten this?

"What?" Cade's smile fades and his face becomes worried.

"Well, imagine shifting with a baby inside. Not all creatures have the possibility to easily bear children. Also, the DNA changes every time she shifts and it will become incompatible with that of the baby. Like a horse carrying a baby goat." She explains to Cade as his frown deepens more and more.

"This totally slipped my mind..." I tell her and remove Cade's hand from my lap. How could I have been so irresponsible?

"I will leave before this situation becomes even more uncomfortable." She says and quickly leaves the room.

'Soooo..." he tells me and places his hand on my leg again. "Do they have condoms in Valhireya? Do birth control pills work for you?" He asks and captures my lips in a breathtaking kiss.

Cade

"Do I really have to come with you?" I ask Jan annoyed.

"You know you have to! You have to inform the demons you are giving up your claim to the throne." He tells me and I frown. I don't like this a single bit. Time flies different in Hell and my father is the one who controls it. I could be gone for 10 minutes and miss 10 years of Claire's life.

"When do we leave?" I hear Idalia's voice coming from behind me.

"You are not going anywhere!" I turn around and find her in the doorway.

"The hell I'm not!" She tells me and I see Jan smiling a little.

"Don't encourage her! This is dangerous! You can't leave our daughter alone!" I look at each of them with worry. Why can't they see how dangerous this is?

"I didn't ask, did I? I said I will come with you!" She presses on every word, making me bubble with anger.

"We leave tomorrow. We don't know when Vittor will attack, so the sooner the better!" Jan says and Idalia nods.

"Then it is settled!" She tells him and then he almost runs out of the room.

"You are acting very stupid right now!" I tell her and she smirks.

"Let me ask you something... can anyone travel to Hell and back?" Her question has me puzzled. She is going somewhere with this.

"No! Only demons can do that!" I answer her truthfully.

"And can any demon leave Hell?" She asks me but I still can't figure out where she is going with this.

"Not all of them! The guardians and some of the punishers can never leave."

"So, I could actually meet demons that have different powers, right?" She asks me and I think it's starting to become clear to me now.

"If I can touch them, I can become them! What Vittor hasn't touched, he cannot become." She tells me, confirming my idea.

"Fine! You are going! Let's just hope my dad is in a good mood!" I tell her and she wraps her arms around me in a hug. She places a soft kiss on my neck and touches the place her mark lies, above my heart.

"Whatever comes, we face it together!" Her words comfort me, calm my mind. The danger that surrounds us right now can't be avoided. But this time, we will face it together and that changes things.

"Baby?" I see Claire in the doorway.

"You are leaving?" She asks with her big scared eyes.

"Only for a week, baby! You don't need to worry. Everyone here will take care of you!" I tell her and wipe her tears away.

"Don't you like aunty Luna?" Ida asks her and she nods, still sulking.

"Then she will take care of you!" I tell her and she finally relaxes a little. Ida pulls her into her arms and kisses the hop of her head.

"I love you, my little soul!" She tells Claire and my hearts melts because, our daughter really is a copy of her. The more she grew up, them more she started to resemble Ida, outside and inside.

"Let's go find aunty Luna and see if she has some more of that delicious chocolate she makes!" She tells her while carrying her in her arms. They both leave the room and I follow them with my gaze while my heart is breaking in my chest.

I turn to Jan with tears in my eyes. This could go wrong in so many ways. This is so dangerous for me and my family, but I can't have anything happen to Ida because of who I am.

"Open the portal!" I tell him and all colour drains from his face. However, he sees how determined and angry I am and he doesn't dare argue with me. He closes his eyes and lifts his hands and I see the fabric of reality being lifted and Hell on the other side.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asks me with worry in his voice.

"Are you coming already?"
