❛ the boy next door ❜

I was setting up some fairy light in my backyard for my little sister's upcoming birthday party when suddenly, a soccer ball landed on the grass.

A tall figure appeared on the other side of my backyard fence, "Oh, sorry." He apologised. The boy was tall with messy brown hair, hazel eyes and owned a british accent.

I picked up the ball and held it in my hands as I walked toward my fence, "Oh, no worries. I'm sorta used to it." I handed him the soccer ball.

"Thanks." His gaze diverted from me towards something behind me.

"Someones birthday...or your friends coming over?"

I look back at the fairy lights, "Oh, that. It's my sister's 12th birthday soon and I'm throwing a birthday party."

He smiled, "I have a younger sister too. Bloody annoying, but she's alright to be with."

"Yeah well, younger sisters are like that I guess. Fucking spoiled too."

He snorted, "Tell me about it. I'm Louis by the way. Louis Partridge." He held out his hand.

"Y/n." I shook his hand.

He raised a brow, "Are you gonna tell me your last name or would you like me to give you mine?"

Did he just- ohmygodohmygodohmygod

I silently choked on my spit as my mind raced, trying to play it cool. It wasn't everyday you meet someone cute and they flirt with you.

"Y/n Partridge. Hm, I don't know Lou. What do you think?" I joined.

"Lou? Is that my new nickname?"

"You want me to call you mine instead?" I suggested.

He chuckled and licked his lips, "I'm beginning to think you and I are going to get along just fine."

I raise a brow tauntingly, "How would you know?"

He smirked, "You're right. I don't know. So why don't we see over a cup of coffee or tea?"

"Are you asking me out Partridge?"

He jokingly thought about it, "That depends. Yes or no?"

I smiled, "No." I knew this would be embarrassing for him so I'll let him suffer for a few seconds.

It was worth it. His smile dropped and his cheeks were red. I tried to hold my laughter but I couldn't contain it anymore.

I burst out laughing, "Oh my god your face! You should've seen it! I swear you dropped dead for a second, your soul left your body."

He rolled his eyes but a smile crept it's way up his face, "I'll get you soon. Maybe tomorrow, 3 o'clock at Cece's."

Oh god, this boy was smooth.

"Yeah, maybe." I smiled.

And I was falling.
