"God, this is so boring," Kofuyu thought. "I'm pretty sure he's making me do this work because he doesn't want to." She shot Kyoya a glare from the corner of her eye. "I can't bee too mad though. If our places were switched, I'd probably do the same thing."
Kofuyu sat beside Kyoya with his laptop sitting on her lap. Her eyes were focused on the screen that displayed order forms, spreadsheets, and a lot of numbers. After all, she was the host club's assistant, so Kyoya was showing her how to help keep track of the expenses.
Kyoya glanced over at her then at the screen. His was jotting down information and little notes down in his notebook. "It looks like she's doing alright. Of course, I still have to double check her work after she's done," Kyoya figured.
"Wow, these picture books are really popular, huh?" Kofuyu mumble more to herself than to Kyoya. Her eyes stayed glued to the screen the whole time.
"The guests love supporting the host club," Kyoya replied halfheartedly. She didn't reply and went back to focusing on the numbers instead. Another minute of silence passed, and Kyoya continued to occasionally look over the top of his notebook to see her progress.
"She's working faster than I thought she would be. I shouldn't be surprised. She is an honor student after all," Kyoya reminded himself.
"Kofu-chan!" Honey called. He ran towards her with a small plate and fork in his hands. He presented it to her with a big smile on his face. "I brought you a little snack for all your hard work with Kyo-chan," explained Honey. He held the plate out in front of him and waited for her reaction.
"Oh, thanks, Senpai. That's really nice of you," replied Kofuyu. She eyed the French little pastry for a second then placed the laptop on the coffee table in front of her. She took the plate from his hands and picked up the fork.
"Your welcome!" Honey didn't stay to chat. He turned away and skipped away to find his cousin.
Kofuyu silently enjoyed the soft chocolate and buttery pastry crust. The whole, a smile graced her face. It was mainly due to the sweet chocolate, but also because of the kind gesture Honey had given her.
Kyoya glanced a few more times in her direction. "It's so strange to see her smiling like that. Even if it a little small, it's unusual," Kyoya thought. "But it's no wonder she doesn't smile often. First her parents, then her childhood boyfriend, they both ended up leaving her one way or another. All that heartbreak adds up over time."
"So, tell me, honestly," Kofuyu paused. Kyoya looked at her from the corner of his eyes, and she continued. "Are any of the others aware that you tried to blackmail me?"
"Tried?" Kyoya repeated. One of his eyebrows raised, and he noticed the soft tone she spoke in. It was almost as if she wanted to keep it a secret.
"Please, you don't have anything on me, Ootori. What? Were you going to tell everyone that I was detained once when I was eleven?" Kofuyu scoffed. "Because other than that, my record is clean, and I haven't done anything." Kofuyu thought back to the amount of food she's shoplifted and the amount of money she stole from that one student.
"I could always tell people about your dead boyfriend," Kyoya spoke quietly. He meant it as a joke more than anything, but he didn't think of the kind of repercussions that small statement could have. Kofuyu set the half-eaten pastry on the table and stared at him with a stern look.
"You wouldn't," Kofuyu called his bluff. "Don't talk about him." She leaned forward and picked up the laptop, so she could continue her work. "The faster I finish, the faster I can get away from him and finish that heavenly, delicious chocolate goodness." Her mouth watered at the thought.
