Skylar Miller was only ten years old when everything began to fall apart. First, it was the quiet disappearances-one sibling at a time-until only three of her siblings remained in her life. Then came the accident, a day that left her with more than...

"I hope you know that what I am about to tell you, is something I have never told anyone. It is something that I keep to myself, and I find it hard to admit to myself that it happened, but it did, and I am the way that I am because of it. Everything that I have chosen in life, to move forward, has been a result of what happened"
Hearing my younger sister screaming at Skylar, was what had set me off. I had just walked into the house, carrying bags, when I had heard the shouting. It had only taken a few seconds before there was a commotion, and then I had to watch my baby sister tear off up the stairs, and come in contact with her brother, but wasn't even stopping.
I dropped the bags, before I was chasing up after her, as she slammed the door in my face. I knocked, pounding on the door as I heard her collapse on the ground, but she didn't lock it. I gave her a second, a minuet in silence where her sobs filled the quiet house, before I burst in there. I couldn't let her be in there alone, not with her heart practically sitting on the floor.
I was quick to crash to the floor, coming up behind her rocking form, and pulling it into my chest, so that her back was against my own. I settled onto the ground, my legs apart so that she was settled between them. She fought, which I would give her that in her unsettled state, but it didn't take long, as I wrapped my arms around her own, settling them against her sides.
She leaned forward in my hold, almost as if she was trying to get away from me, as shivers started to wrack her body. I was confused, but I just continued to hold her, trying to get her to calm down. It was slowly working, as she seemed to be more aware of her surroundings, but that seemed to make it all worse, as she tried to pull away from me.
I looked to her, right as she looked at me, and the look in her face physically pained me. She looked at me, as if she didn't know who I was. But, I knew she did. I could see the recognition, but it wasn't normal. "Grayson, let her go" an authoritative voice spoke behind me, and I turned, being shocked at how someone so young could be so authoritative towards me.
Just under 10 years younger than me, and the way he spoke to me was remarkably similar to Shane. I did as he said, as he was quick to move to where I was, and unlike when it was me, Sky collapsed into his arms. She hid herself into his arms, as he murmured some soft words into her ear, and she nodded along.
I felt as though I was intruding, and maybe I was, but I couldn't get myself to move from where I seemed to be rooted, staring at the young pair. "Go" Luke murmured to me, and I did as he said, clambering to my feet, and leaving them, closing the door. The door that I had never thought twice about bursting into, because I could hear my baby sister crying her heart out.
I stood there, as it hit me like a truck. My sister didn't trust me, I knew that, but her eyes had shone with something else. Not just that she didn't trust me, but that in the moment, she didn't know what I would do. What my intentions were, by sitting behind her and pulling her to my chest. She had tried to get away, but it was like she knew no matter how hard she tried, she may never get away.
