The boys, excluding Justin, went off on their own and the rest of us go in the shed and take a corner to ourselves. Justin looks like he is getting friendly with Amy trying to comfort her about her outburst by the fire before and Tianna is furthest from the door to my right, I think she is using the last of her phone power. I left my phone in my bag, biggest mistake of my life.
The night goes on and I think Tianna's phone battery finally died, I don't know if she is asleep or not though. With nothing to do I end up ease dropping on Amy and Justin's conversation.
"You're like my parents' ideal student, you're head of the student council, probably get straight A's right?" Justin asks.
"What do you mean, your smart, your computer smart..."
"Yeah but, my grandma thinks it's just video games you know, she wants me to be a pilot of all things, so I can fly her to Peru." They both laugh. "But I'm afraid of heights and I could never handle that much responsibility, so I guess that makes me less of a man or something, cause I'm a "weak-ling" or whatever." At least he got a chance to open up to someone.
"Yeah I know what you mean and no I don't think you're a weakling, I mean you don't choose your fears, they kinda choose you." Amy comforts him.
"Yeah true, how about you? What fear choose you?" He asks.
"Unfortunately, one I can't overcome... my parents." She answers.
"Your parents? "Justin is surprised and frankly so am I. I would have thought Amy was the world's most perfect child.
"Being an only child is hard, I mean yeah you're spoiled and raised to be this perfect star pupil, and life was great as a child I mean all the parents loved me and people liked me cause I was smart, but when I became the school rep all I wanted to do was be the best, follow the rules and do the right thing but high school is a different crowd, I mean yeah the teachers loved me but the other students didn't see it as me doing the right thing and not long after I became the leader of the watch dogs." Amy explains.
"Must have been hard." Justin replies.
"No doubt, all I wanted to do was the right thing because that's all I know, that's what I was taught but no one saw it the way I did."
"It's okay, I mean at least I get it right? It's got to count for something right?" Good one.
"You don't get it...Justin, I don't care anymore. I just want friends." I think Amy is crying now.
"It's okay, we're friends so don't worry. In fact, I consider everyone here a friend, even though they may not think the same thing. Especially Rein, I think she hates me, but I'll still call her a friend." I don't hate you but we're not friends Justin. "But I guess it's my fault for not asking for her name, it was really rude of me, I hope she doesn't hate me too much though, I would like to at least apologize."
"Thanks. I don't know her, but I think we are all connected in some way, even if we're not friends and well, I think you might have to wait till tomorrow for that apology."
"Yeah...Hey don't take this the wrong way but I think you should talk to Tianna. I think you guys might have a lot more in common than you think." What could they possible have in common, other than the fact that they hate each other?
"How would you know."
"We wallflowers see a lot. Trust me."
I started falling asleep so I couldn't keep up with the conversation and the next thing I knew it was morning.
