Riley's POV

I hopped off my bike and set it in the bike rack as Hayes and Mik set their boards by the rack as well. I started my trek down to the water but I had to set my stuff down and take off my clothes. "Mikayla." I yelled. "You coming in?"

"Yeah. In a bit." She replied.

"Loser." I shouted back at her. Hayes didn't come in either. He sat there with Mik talking, which was totally fine by me! I swam a bit, and just relaxed in the water. It felt nice to just, relax; just leave all your thoughts behind.

Fifteen minutes later, I heard someone entering the water. I was floating on my back, with my eyes closed. "Boo!" They called. It was Hayes. I fell underneath the water and stayed under to scare Hayes.

"Riley? Okay, come up. Riley? Riiley? Riiiiiley?" I heard Hayes call. I knew he was getting worried, and he should be, because I was about to rip his head off.

"Are you stupid?" I popped up out of the water.

"Are you stupid?" Hayes asked me, relieved.

"No, but you are. How could you scare me like that? I could've died!" I screamed.

"Okay, 1) You shouldn't be sleeping in the water, you're more than likely going to die, and 2) You shouldn't scare me like that!" Hayes explained.

"Um, actually Hayes, I opened my eyes every minute or so, so I wouldn't!" I told him. Hayes went to open his mouth but I shut the conversation down. "Whatever." I rolled my eyes and walked out of the water.

"Seriously Riley." Mikayla said, disappointed.

"What?" I asked.

"You and Hayes fighting in the water." She reminded me.

"It's his fault!" I exclaimed.

"And yours." Mikayla turned away and sat down.

"I'm sorry." I apologized sitting next to her.

"Are you, Riley? Because you always say you're sorry but do you really mean it? Or is it just to make up and stop fighting." She questioned.

"I really am sorry Mik! It's not as easy as said and done to just forgive someone!" I shouted at her.

"Yes it is!" She argued.

"Maybe for you, but not for me. And if you're not going to accept my apology, then so be it. You can hang out with Hayes." I finished. I grabbed my bag, stood up, and started walking towards my bike.

"Wait!" Mik called. "We are not ending like this. I will not let our friendship end like this. If you're really sorry, then prove it to me." Mikayla added.

"How?" I asked, relieved and confused.

"If you're really sorry . . . then try and get along with Hayes." She threatened.

"Okay." I sighed. I walked back to our spot and sat back down beside Mikayla. We talked, and talked, and talked until I looked at the water and realized Hayes was gone.

Hayes's POV

After Riley and I's argument I decided to stay in the water since she was leaving. I was floating around until I seen that Mikayla and Riley were fighting. Typical Riley, always looking for fight because she has to be right. I decided to leave the water and go look for something fun. Which took a while considering there were lots of people on the beach doing nothing.

I was walking and I seen that there were people running around, playing sports, etc. I looked out at the water until I heard a soft thud. I looked over and seen a volleyball a few feet beside me. This is what God wants me to do.
