The Doctor:

We watched her past up until her present.

From her parents chance meeting on a leaf, to her kicking a football into my face, much to Ellie's delight, to her mothers death. Everything was real, no trickery, no false memories like there was in Ellody to cover LizBeth, and she was pure human.

"She's just a girl. How can she be?" I asked aloud, the scanner bringing up Oswin Oswald from the Starship Alaska. "She can't be."

"And yet she is, Doctor." Ellie replied, pulling her hair into a ponytail again, slightly less severe than the old braid she used to wear. "An Impossible Girl, who simply cannot be. We have landed, she will be here momentarily so clear the scanner. If we want answers, we cannot scare her away with this investigation."

Why did I want her here again? "Whatever you say. I'm surprised you're handling this so delicately, I must say. It's almost as though you like her. But you're not capable of that. Are you?"

Red eyes fixed on my pale green. "No, I am not. But I am capable of understanding someone's mind and making them feel safe in a space they may otherwise avoid. If we want the answer, we need Clara to stick around, and my usual self would not manage that. So play along."

"Whatever you say, Sissy." Her temple throbbed a little at the name. "What exactly is wrong with being my sister? Genetically, we're related!"

Only before she could respond, in came Clara, carrying her bag and dressed somewhat practically with an excited smile. Oh, this was why I loved bringing humans with me, how they reacted seeing the universe for the very first time. "So, we're moving through actual time? So, what's it made of, time? I mean, if you can just rotor through it, it's got to be made of stuff, like jam's made of strawberries. So, what's it made of?"

"Well, not strawberries." Ellie informed her. "In the Natara System, the belief is that time, each microt, second, is made of the breaths of the Time Keeper, Orazia. The day Time runs out is the day she breathes no more."

"That. That is just a beautiful pieces of mythology." Ellody did enjoy that area of space, but then for a while she did believe she was Sebacean, and was somewhat superstitious. Weird when she claimed to be solely logical. "And we can go anywhere?"

I shrugged. "Within reason. Well, I say reason. Ellody will try to pick something somewhat safe."

"So, we could go backwards in time."

"And space, yes."

"And forwards in time."

Slightly fixated on time there, Clara. "And space. Totally. So, where do you want to go, eh? What do you want to see?"

Her face went through quite a few emotions in quick succession. "I don't know. You know when someone asks you what's your favourite book and straight away you forget every single book that you've ever read?"

"Yes."

"No, but I have external storage."

"Which I keep telling you is cheating."

"You two are definitely siblings." Thank you! Try telling Ellie that, though. "Okay. So, so. So. So I'd like to see. I would like to see. What I would like to see is, something awesome."

Now, that was a request we could both work with."

Ellie silently agreed with my idea and we worked together to get there as Divvy directed Clara into a safe space to stand before we were leading her out with her eyes closed. "Can you feel the light on your eyelids? That is the light of an alien sun, Ms Clara. Forward two more steps. Perfect. Are you ready?"
