The Doctor:
One of the only areas that wasn't destroyed on the submarine was thankfully the infirmary, so it was cleared out and got my sibling installed into it, not lying down because I needed access to the back of their neck, but precariously tied into sitting upright on a chair. It wasn't the weirdest way I'd seen them sat, because apparently they found the strangest places more optimal for either signal or 'comfort', but it was weirding out Clara as she watched me carefully tinkering with the Interface.
"So, what exactly is that thing? That has to be the root of her, their, powers, right? Because other than the red eyes, that is the only thing non-normal about them."
Non-normal? The entirety of them wasn't normal, they, they, they were Ellody and Elizabeth. They were my sibling, how could they be normal. "Clara, they're far more complicated than that, but yes, this is, to some extent, the root of the power for Ellody. I don't really know if I'm allowed to be telling you anything about them, because I wasn't supposed to know either." I replied, sat a little higher then them on the table, holding them still with my knees as I used to do when Lizzy was squirming as I did her hair.
Oh, Elizabeth, I missed you with everything, but if you wanted peace you could have it. Ellody stayed when they didn't have to, while you tried to leave at every opportunity. "Can you pass me that metal polish, please? There's an infection in the brain stems, and it's dirtying the metal and they'll be annoyed with that when they wake up."
She pulled a face, though I suppose if you had a face you couldn't not be pulling a face. "They'll be annoyed that there's some puss on something that they can't even see? It's on the back of their neck!"
No. It was on the back of LizBeth's neck, but it was Ellie. They'd know if there was something on there, and so would LizBeth if she was there, because she'd use my eyes and look. It was how she used to keep an eye on her eyeliner back in the day. Rory and I asked her to stop, but try asking her to do anything. "Can I have the metal polish, please." She passed it over, the little tub not the nicest smelling thing, but it was sterile thanks to alcohol in it. "I thank you. Okay, Sibby, this will help keep it clean, but you need a full detox as soon as possible, before this infection gets worse."
Strangely, there was a reply from the unconscious form. In a sort of mish mash of languages, that made sense, ish, but still not very easy to translate as it would change language mid word. "I am dreaming. I do not dream. What is happening?"
"Oh! Oh, that was weird. They were talking in my head, but, it didn't even sound like them."
"Telepath, they're powerful, and dreams are something they can usually hijack, but not normally when they themself are dreaming. Actually, the fact that they're dreaming is quite worrisome, they're not supposed to be able to sleep."
"That existence would suck, sleep is amazing." Depending on what you saw when you closed your eyes, perhaps. It had never been pleasant for me, and imagine that for Elizabeth, when she saw what I had done, what she had done, and what had been done to her. Ellie had a fraction of that, and the Tragic Backstory TM my sister in law had designed for her. "Why can't they sleep? Sleep is important to everything, your body starts to shut down if you don't get sleep, it happened to Sam on Supernatural." I looked at her in bemusement. "What? Supernatural's a show, Dean and Sam, they're brothers who hunt monsters. Look, I did not have a great time my second year of uni, and I binged all of Supernatural, and all of ER while in bed."
ER... River decided to try and get my attention using it, when LizBeth was sick once and wasn't getting better and tried to get me to take her to a hospital. Played a doctor in it for far more time than was necessary, and by the time her character, named Elizabeth Corday because for some reason she needed to drive the point home, was written out, Elizabeth herself was finally better and also chastising her wife for acting in a hospital drama. "I know what Supernatural is. Lizzy and I used to have film and tv binge weeks and she liked to go into detail on how a lot of the mythology was adapted to fit the storyline, and several different ways that the lore wasn't accurate at all. I just liked the fact that they keep travelling about."
