Ellie:
We were letting the Doctor loose around children. One as clever and manipulative as Angie Maitland. This would be interesting, because they had both already manipulated my girlfriend into getting a trip on the TARDIS. So we tried to pick something fun, educational and somewhat safe. Or so we thought, because not much had ever been documented in this region of space, Elizabeth had only been here once according to her, and met the young Emperor.
"Well, here we are." The Doctor told us as we put our heads out of the TARDIS doors. "Hedgewick's World. The biggest and best amusement park there will ever be, and we've got a golden ticket that Elizabeth had hidden." Yes, I was trying to get her to tell me why, but she was being difficult. "Eh? Eh? Fun."
Clara did not look convinced. "Fun? Ellie said just take 'em to the opening of Disneyland London, or Ghibli World."
Angie was definitely not impressed by this. "Your stupid box can't even get us to the right place. This is like a moon base or something."
"This is not the Moon." I informed her, Clara coming to my side so I put my arm around her. He knew, and even though he did not really approve and had tried carefully to say as much, I knew he would not going against us. "Your Moon has no atmosphere."
"Actually, I think it does look like the Moon, only dirtier."
Of course the Doctor was upset about this, because he had wanted to come here. "Hey. Guys. It's not the Moon, okay? It's a Spacey Zoomer ride, or it was. Sibby-"
My eyes were on a collection of large rocks, one of which housing a door that opened to show a man in a tall hat. "Psst. Excuse I. I don't suppose you happen to be my lift off planet? Dave's Interstellar Removal?"
Clara shook her head, not realising that I was now staring past him. Something here was amiss. "Afraid not."
"They were meant to be here six months ago." I highly doubted they were coming then, Friend. "Well, that's Dave for you, see? Unreliable."
Another party began coming towards us. "Stay where you are!" The man ducked away once again. "Throw down your weapons and identify yourselves."
Why were the military in an amusement park? "No. No weapons." Speak for yourself. I was fully aware that I always had at least a knife on me. "Golden ticket. Spacey Zoomer. Free ice cream?"
The confused the Captain. "Who are you? This planet is closed, by Imperial and Chronicle Order."
"By Chronicle-" The Doctor was just showing the psychic paper. "Or just ignore the warning, because that is obviously a good idea."
She blinked at the paper. "Oh. Welcome, Proconsul, Abbess." Please stop making me out to be religious, I appreciated Nataran and Ahkan Faith, I did not believe it myself. "I wish they'd told us you were coming. Any news of the Emperor?"
Had he left? "Ludens disappeared? We were not aware, we have been out of communication." I twitched my hand, pulling hard on the Doctor's ear. "In my order's Convent."
"We pray for his return." I highly doubted he wished to, he despised his role according to notes Elizabeth made. "If there is anything you need, my platoon is at your service." Whatever you said, Captain, you and your military rejects. "Platoon, let's move out! On the double. Two, three, four. Two, three, four. Two, three-"
Off they ran, none particularly adept at their job, and out came the man once again. "Have they gone?" We agreed. "Uniforms give me the heebie-jeebies. Come on. They can't stop me being here, but they don't like it."
He lead us away from the Zoomer to show us the rest of the amusement park. Dilapidated and crumbling, grass growing up through cracked concrete as nature began reclaiming a tamed planet. There was an eerie tone to the entire place, melancholic as the ghosts of families and children squealed with delight and laughter still whispered into the wind, because no more did they come. Kenopsia, the forlorn atmosphere of a place that was one bustling with people but was now abandoned and quiet."
