Chapter 7

Thursday and Friday were track try outs. They started right after school. There was only four freshman. Me, Jo, Ashley, and Haley. For the most part we tried to stick together, well only when we ran we couldn't stay together. Jo and I would run together and Ashley and Haley would run together. Jo and I were faster then them and we didn't talk much when we ran because it would only make us slower. This is how we were every year and anytime we ran together. We always try to bet each other and would get to into the running to talk to anyone, that's why we always ran together and everyone know that. We always finished before Ashley and Haley so that's when we would talk.

"So have you made up your mind?" Jo asked me

"About what?"

"About us?"

Just then Ashley and Haley walked over. We stopped talking about it and just drank some water.

"So waht's going on?" Ashley asked

"Nothing." I told her

"That was a fun run." Haley said sarcastically

"Right." Jo added in. For the rest of try outs the couch had us working on field activities, If you don't know that's discus, shop-put, high-jump, long-jump, and some others. Jo and I really didn't get to talk much. We are on different field events but every time I would look over at him he would be looking at me. I could always feel my cheeks get warm but it didn't mater because they were probably already red from running. He would smile and I smiled back then I would look away first. At the end of tryouts the couch said 'Everyone did really good today so we're keeping everyone and practice starts tomorrow. The same time as tryouts started.' Walking back to the school Jo and I started talking. We were the last people to start walking back.

"So what's your answer?" Jo asked me

"You never asked me a question." I said smiling

"Yes I did. I asked you where do we stand?"

"Right here." Jo just looked at me like I was stupid,"Kidding but you mean the same question I've asked you so many times? Now you want me to answer it?" I said kinda laughing

He just looked at me like ya,"Well are you going to answer me?" he finally asked.

"No I don't think so. Well not today anyway. I mean I don't even know where you want to stand at this point."

"I think you know where I want this to go."

"No I really don't Jo. I have never heard you say you wanted to go out with me. The only thing you keep doing is kissing me." I said pushing him.

"Hey you kissed back and you started some of it."

"I don't know what your talking about." I said as convincing as I could.

"Really because I will just have to ask Ashley and she is really far away. You don't want me to yell that question do you?"

"I don't think you will." I challenged him and I don't know why he never backs down from a challenge.

"O you know I will Rose."

"OK go a head, do it."

Just then Jo yelled,"HEY ASHLEY." and like that everyone stopped and turned to see what was going on.

"OK OK I did but I also asked you where we stand every time after we kissed." I whispered yelled feeling my cheeks get warmer.

"NEVER MIND ASHLEY." Jo yelled and people stared walking again but we didn't,"Well you tell me where do we stand."

"I mite tell you one day." I said waking away.

Jo cot up with me and said,"So does that mean we just keep doing what were doing?" nudging my arm with a smirk on his face.

I turned to look at him walking backwards,"You would like that to much Jo." I said rolling my eyes

"I would wouldn't I?" Jo said with a wink

I pushed him back then took off running up to Ashley. Jo ran after me but I got there first.

"I told you I was faster." I told Jo as soon as he got there

"You so had a head start." Jo said stepping closer

"Your a sore loser." I said moving a little closer. I rally wanted to kiss him right then and there. I know I couldn't but I really wanted to. That's when I realised I really liked him but I was still scared. If it diesn't work out are families are still really close friends. We go on vacation all the time, we both run track, and we spend most of the holidays together. I really want to go out with him but I don't know if I should. I just stepped away and kept walk like nothing happened. I can't go out with him this all has to stop.
