The Best Year!

Chapter 13

It's Sunday morning and I get up to go help Jo get everything ready for his pool party that's next weekend. When I get over it his house he was already putting the bonfire stuff together.

"Well someone is on top of this today." I told him as I help put out some chairs.

"I wasn't sleeping much so I started working."

"Bad night?"

"Ya but it's not like you care. Remember we're not friends." Jo said kinda laughing

"I care and we can be friends but only friends!"

"Deal."

"OK let's go work on the pool area."

I took off running then Jo started running to. I got to the pool first but almost fell in trying to stop. Jo saw this and acted like he was going to push me in.

"I won!" I told Jo

"You got a head start."

"So I'm a girl and you hurt my leg last time."

"You fell it's not like I pushed you."

"OK if that's what you want to keep telling yourself." I walked over and got the sea shells and started placing them on the tables. I was trying to make a sinners peace for all the tables.

I told Jo "Why don't you get the buckets and shovels."

"OK. What do you want my to do with them?"

"Just bring them to me or you could help by putting them on the tables. Also put the candles in them." We both went around placing thing on the tables.

After we were done I asked "So do you want to start with the lights or the sand?"

"I think the sand and beach balls should be the last things we do. So we could start on the lights if you want."

"OK let's just start by putting them around the fence." It was a little hard to put them up because his fence is a privacy fence. After we put the lights up on the fence I left and told him "We can work on it next weekend."

Then he gave me some invasions and asked "Would you help pass them out?"

"Ya this is like my party to now." I said laughing

"That's what I thought so I put your name on the invasions to. Is that OK?"

"Ya thanks." I hugged him and then left.

Walking back to my house I was thing about why I hugged him. I don't know why and I shouldn't have done it. I felt kinda stupid for doing it but I just have to let it go because it already happened. The next morning at school I started handing out some of the invasions. I gave one to all the girls and they asked if I was going. I told them I have to and that I'm helping plan it. The rest of the week Jo and I handed out all of the invasions and ordered the food. All we had left to do was lay out the sand, blow up the beach balls, and put up the rest of the lights. I told him I would help him Friday and come early  Saturday to help with whatever needs finished.
