It's been a few weeks since they docked into Paris and luckily Hook kept his share of the treasure from his last mission so they were well off staying at an inn until they figured out if they wanted to stay or not.
Jenny was set to find her sister but the city was so big to find one person.
"Jenny, love, why not just file her missing?"
"Because she's not missing."
"Then put yourself in her shoes-"
"I wouldn't be able to afford her shoes-..."
Jenny asked the innkeeper where to find the high-end shopping was.
"Probably towards the capital. It's close to the castle so the shopkeepers usually have the higher quality material there."
"Thank you, miss."
Jenny ran out with James right behind her.
"Jenny, love, where are you going?"
"To where my sister believes she should be."
The area was high standards with everyone dressed proper and acting as if everyone else was beneath them. Jenny and James stood out like a sore thumb but they couldn't care less as they dipped their heads into almost every shop on the block.
"I don't think your sister is here Jen."
"I could've sworn this would be it-"
Then she heard the shrill of a voice that she would recognize anywhere.
"This is what my money is worth to you?! A torn dress? My husband is going to hear of this ridiculous place. Go back to the slums where you came from!"
When Jenny turned around she saw a woman with perfect golden locks and a dress made from satin as if she was a princess. The woman she was staring at had an icy glare towards the shopkeeper begging for another chance. Jenny moved towards the noise as if gravity was moving her instead of her feet. She hoped she was wrong hearing those awful things about someone trying to better their life. Madonna was jaded sure and a bit cold tempered but never this awful.
"I can do better ma'am, just one more chance! Please!"
Jenny spoke unwilling wishing she could've taken the words back.
"She's just trying to make a living Donna, maybe you damaged the dress while dragging it around."
Jenny was a quiet non-confrontational woman. She loved keeping the peace when she could but when it came to her sister, she always felt she had to put her in line sometimes like a mom to a child. She hated bullies and felt like it was unfair for them to judge and bicker when they also came from nothing.
"Who dares call me-"
The sisters made eye contact with both speechless about what to say. Jenny remembered the day her sister left and the woman standing in front of her now was a completely different person. She wore he hair up in a proper bun with a dress made with the finest of linens money could buy. Make-up was done perfectly without a smudge out of place.
"Well well well, look what the cat dragged in," Madonna said.
"What happened to you, Madonna?"
"I found my handsome rich husband Jenny. I always told you I'd find the one. I was too good for that silly island we grew up on because I believed in the bigger picture instead of the box we called home."
