The due date was getting closer so Hook got some time off to be there for his wife.

"Remember just down the hill there's someone who said they'll help if the doctor can't make it in time."

"I remember Jenny, just relax love because everything is in order."

But the time was ticking and Jenny could feel how close she was to deliver her baby. James alerted a friend from the village to send for the doctor but time seemed to speed up once he came back inside to see Jenny standing in a small puddle. The time was now as they stared at each other in shock.

Jenny paced around as the contractions were getting closer and closer. She finally had to lay down unable to move much anymore.

The villagers rounded around their house helping where they could while James walked around just praying silently that everything was going to be okay. But then he'd hear Jenny scream in pain. The other men calmed the man telling James their story of their first child being born.

"This is all normal son, can't be too much longer until you hear that little baby crying."

James was getting antsy seeing women pop in and out of the house but no one was telling him anything. No one prepared him for this kind of torture he'd have to endure while he sat on the sidelines while his wife wailed in pain inside.

"Were you guys this nervous?"

James just felt like he was being dramatic.

"Every one of us has been in your shoes. Just wait until you get to hold the baby for the first time because that's when everything will finally hit."

James looked around and was now seeing how busy his property was. So many couples helping out his family.

"How did everyone find out?" James asked.

"Your wife is a very popular woman James. When you're away, she's usually down in our small village helping everyone. She has done so much for us, we're just trying to find our way to pay back her kindness."

"Thank you."

And then they all heard a small child crying in the other room. A small woman walked out with a little blood on her shirt but she was smiling.

"You may go see your wife and child now. The doctor will probably be here shortly, want us to stay and send him in?"

James just nodded rushing towards the room. He saw his wife covered in sweat but smiling down at the small bundle in her arms. She looked up kissing the baby on the forehead.

"Ready to hold your daughter?"

The man was right, it all finally dawned on James that this was all real.

His daughter had a small patch of blonde curls on her tiny head but the eyes were all James. Two minutes of being alive and James was already promising his daughter the world.

The doctor came finally checking over Jenny and their daughter declaring them both healthy. Jenny finally noticed all the women around the house cleaning up, making dinner, whatever they could for the new parents.

"You have made many friends my love."

Jenny smiled.

"This is all so kind of them."

James thanked them all and the women just smiled giving Jenny and James their gratitude.

"It's the least we could do." One woman said.

"Can I do anything for you ladies and your families? I feel like I owe you all...everything."

They all just smiled shaking their heads.

"Your wife is a gem and this is all the least we could do for you two."

Once the day progressed and everyone went home, the two parents just stared at their little girl as she was finally put to sleep.

"We never came up with a name," James said.

They bounced around some names but nothing seemed to fit the little girl.

"What about Ella?" Jenny said.

Before James could speak the little girl squirmed a bit opening her little eyes. James just whispered the name and the baby turned her head towards her dad.

"It's perfect."

It seemed like life was just falling into place now that James had a family. His job was fruitful, his wife was healthy and had just given birth to the most beautiful baby he's ever seen. Nothing could ever take this moment away from James. But that's all he will get to live with soon with these small moments.
