A couple of years passed and everything the two only dreamed about came true. They had their house in the countryside on a little hill. They found it sailing around where it was far from the city but they had the space to grow and make it all their own.

They built something grand when James sold almost all he owned. He now only has his ship but what he gained was all worth it.

He now was a traveling merchant sailing around the country mostly but always came back home before nightfall. His ship came in handy when he met a client willing to pay him to sail around selling his merchandise. Thankful for some income, he graciously accepted. James was a charmer and could sell almost anything to anyone.

Jenny just stayed around tending the garden and adding color to their home. She would run around the small village a few miles away to help where she could. Teach the small kids who were too poor to attend school, feed the ones who barely made enough to survive, and just attended where she was needed.

Every night she'd have dinner ready when James walked through the door. The treasures he sold let them live comfortably, plus a little on the side.

    "Smells wonderful love."

Jenny just smiled but James could see a small hint of concern.

    "What's wrong Jen?"

She forced a smile and shook her head.

"Nothing James, just enjoy the food."

The night was silent as James' fear grew with every bite he consumed. But the silence was too much and he couldn't take it.

"You're starting to worry me, Jenny, what's going on?"

She sighed as she dropped would her fork and walked into a dark room.

"Close your eyes love," Jenny said.

James was a little reluctant but did as she asked.

She flicked the lights on, the once empty room full of color and small toys and stuffed animals.

   "Surprise."

James was stunned and a little confused on seeing such small things littered around. Jenny was just smiling waiting for it all to click. Longer than expected but it finally hit,

     "Are you pregnant?!"

"Went to the doctor to confirm it and you're going to be a father."

James always talked about the day they would become parents but the day coming scared him. He smiled at Jenny and kissed her passionately as he repeated her words,

"I'm going to be a father."

He placed his hand on her flat stomach and the fear intensified seeing flashes of the future of a small child crying in his arms and him just frozen in place uncertain about what to do. He's never been around babies and never had a caring father to even know how to treat someone so small and dependent on him.

He quickly left the house with a shocked Jenny watching him leave. They talked about a family but James didn't seem happy.

She walked out to the hill to see James staring out at the sea. She sat beside him and kept silent until he was ready to talk. Jenny was terrified that he wanted her to terminate. She could never do that and would leave if she must but Jenny already felt her heartbreaking.

    "I'm scared Jenny."

    "I am too James."

He got up and just paced around.
