People leave one day or the other. This was the thought roaming in Justin's mind when he walked away from Selena. He wanted to be the old jerk he was and let go. It could be so easy to just let Selena go before he fell in too deep but he could not. Something in her brown eyes, in her smile, in her laugh and in herself made him want to have her for himself, as selfish as he could be.

He was angry that Selena hid this huge information from him. He had worked for Dylan since years and years and never knew that he had a small brother. When Selena found out, she should've told him...but she did not. Instead, she stood up for that horrible person, Chris.

Maybe his reaction to Selena's confession in the car was harsh. After all, she only wanted to avoid trouble so she hid that truth from him but somewhere, he knew that this was not the only reason he was mad. He felt as if she would always take Chris' part—being the good person she was—and not let him down but Justin knew, deep down, that Chris was a bad person. Well, he did not know but it was his opinion and he was sure of it. Also, he took some time to admit, maybe he was also a bit jealous that Selena did not apologize and stick up for Chris...again. He told her that Chris was the one who told Dylan where they were but Selena looked lost, as if she was having trouble believing him and he felt insecure. What would he do if Selena chose Chris over him? The thought made his insides churn and not in a good way. He was vulnerable by now—like any other human. He was attached to her and he finally let her in his life and he would be very, very hurt to have her leave.

And that was the conclusion, once again, that people do leave.

But, he only hoped that Selena would not leave.

Not yet.

Not now.

Selena woke up the next day in one of the worst moods ever. She was grumpy and her father noticed her strange behavior when they were eating. She poured milk in her cereals and sat down, chewing the food without speaking a word; the only sound heard was the spoon hitting the bowl.

Linda glared at Selena's father—almost as if mentally asking him to ask his daughter if she was okay but her husband only shrugged as if he did not even care about what Selena was going through.

Selena did not notice all of that because she was busy drowning herself in horrific thoughts and thinking about Justin which occupied all of her mind right then. She heard Linda faintly saying, "Selena, dear, are you okay?"

"Uh," Selena finally spoke, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"You can tell us anything, you know this, right?"

"Yeah," she lied. If she told her dad that Justin was worse than the guy he thought he was, he would probably lock her in for the rest of her life.

They all looked at each other before Selena sighed and got up. She got ready for school and left without another word spoken.

When Selena was walking in the hallways of her school, Sunburn was playing through her earphones and she felt like crying because she always played this song when she was sad and it didn't help—only made her sadder.
