 ♡ Chapter 12 - Away. ♡

"I hope you do realize that you looked really cute when you were hiding behind that tree," he said, his voice lowering dangerously.

My heart almost stopped right when those words left his mouth. I slowly backed off, "I- I--"

He cut me off, "why were you following us, Selena?" he asked slowly, his voice hoarse and deep.

I didn't get the opportunity to reply that he was already talking again, "remember that day when we ditched and then I called you nosy? Well, I didn't expect you to be that nosy to even spy people."

"Y'all are hiding something," I said, "and it's bothering me. I hate liars and secrets."

"And what do you think? Who the hell you fucking think you are? Do you think that just because I saved you from that abusive asshole you call a boyfriend I'm now your bestest friend and I'll reveal my whole life to you?"

        "No, I just--"

"Get that in your mind," he started, taking a dangerous step closer to me, "don't try to interfere in my life. You have no place in it. Keep your nosy self to yourself next time, alright?" I was so scared by how his face was scrunched up and by how his eyes were dark when he was angry that I only forced a nod, not really processing whatever he said.

"Good," he muttered and then he was gone, leaving me there, in the middle of the streets of London, in the cold, completely astonished and speechless.

-

        "What? Oh my God!"

"I know right," I said, gasping. "He's so mysterious and what's up with his mood swings anyways?"

"You shouldn't have followed him, it's his life so it's reasonable for him to get mad," Jake told me, shaking his head. "And you didn't even tell me about it!"

The next day, at college, I told Jake everything about what happened between me and Justin. I also added the detail that I followed him to that alley and that was why he got mad. Plus, he's right, I should've told him. I always told him everything.

"I'm sorry," I sighed, "forgive me?"

He pursed his lips, "only if you come at my house tonight for a little BFF's day."

I grinned widely at my best friend, this was definitely what I needed, "Yes!" I squealed as I pulled him into a hug.

"So I do remind you that that is the difference between mitosis and meiosis. Make sure that the notes on the board are in your copybook. It's an important topic for your next assessment," our Biology teacher, Mr. Ballwen, said as the bell rang.

I sighed to myself, happy that Biology was finally over. I glanced at Justin, who was doing a great job in ignoring me. Since we 'talked' on the road the other day, he did not speak to me at all and was doing well in giving me the cold shoulder. I admit that I was kind of sad, I grew close to him and I felt like we were finally becoming friends but now he shut me out again just because of one mistake. For once, our eyes met, giving me a slight hope that he would talk to me or at least smile but instead he huffed and flung his bag over his shoulder, breaking our eye contact as he hurried out of the class.
