A/N: Listen to Does She Know by Astrid S to get you in the feels :,)

(Y/N)'s POV:

I inhale a heavy breath, finding myself hesitant to release it. My eyes flutter close, and I pick at the bow on my dress as anxiety pulses through me. I feel fingers lace through mine in a warm gesture.

"You ready?" I open my eyes to find the awaiting gaze of my best friend. His eyes are hooded with gentle worry, but he offers a supportive smile under them. "It'll be fine. I'll be right by your side the whole night."

I nod, subtly smiling back. "Yeah. Let's go."

My dress flows behind me with every step, dark blue ornamented with silver speckles here and there, like a patch of the starry night stolen from the evening sky. My curled hair bounces over my shoulders as my argent heels click up the stairs leading to the front door.

Leo glances over after ringing the bell, the corner of his lips curving. "I know it's been a while since you've been outside like this," he says. "So I just want you to know that if at any time you feel like leaving, I'll take you right back home," I hook my arm around his extended one, "We don't have to stay longer than you want to."

I shift from one foot to the other, swallowing the small lump in my throat. I grant him a reassuring smile. "Thanks. But don't worry, I'll be fine. You should enjoy tonight, too," I say. "Besides, I doubt he'll even b - "

"(Y/N)! Leo!" The door swings open to reveal my old friend. Dressed in an expensive white suit embroidered with gold details, and a fitted dark shirt underneath, gold ornamenting his fingers, wrist, and around his neck - Ethan Dolan.

A gleaming grin is carved into his face, and he runs a hand through his styled hair. "I'm so glad you could make it!" he adds.

He steps forward, embracing me in a lingering hug, before turning to Leo and greeting him, too. "Ay, congrats, man," Leo says. I add, "I'm so happy for you two."

"Thanks a lot, guys. Come in, the party's just getting started," Ethan says, moving back to allow us inside.

We enter the grand hall, and a familiar song blaring in the background instantly lures my attention. Several tables are stacked full of food and drinks spread across them, a separate bar is situated at one end of the room, and guests are bustling at every corner.

My jaw nearly goes limp at the sight I haven't seen in what feels like forever. From the corner of my eye, I catch Kristina scurrying up to me, her eyes lit up and her smile as bright as ever. "(Y/N)!" she exclaims, immediately hugging me tightly.

"Kris! You look so beautiful," I say before we pull away. I gaze in awe at her white and gold dress, matching her fiance's suit, and looking like an absolute goddess with her sparkling make-up.

"Thank you! I'm so happy to see you back out and looking better than ever," she says with a small wink.

I giggle, but my smile simultaneously drops with my heart at the person I catch walking past her. My friend notices in seconds, and turns to look, her smile fading as well. "Oh, (Y/N)," she turns back to me, now an apologetic look washing over her, "I am so sorry about what happened. Thank you for coming, anyway, though. But please, if you need to leave early, Ethan and I completely understand."

I nod stiffly, avoiding eye contact. "Thank you, Kris," I look back at her with a forced grin, "Now let's get back to celebrating your engagement, girl!"

Kristina laughs, and we talk while she walks Leo and I to the table layered in an assortment of food. The night goes on like this, with me and Leo catching up with Ethan and Kristina, them talking about all the crazy adventures they've had recently, all the while I try my best not to look or be spotted by Ethan's brother.
