😲Unsettled😲

Sonya Allsburg had been a Two from Bellcourt. I knew that she had been an actress and even starred in a few hit movies. She came from a respectable family and always seemed to be happy. Sonya did not deserve to die.

Other girls saw the unsettling sight. Some began sobbing, as others looked as if they had seen a ghost. A disturbing silence settled over all of us, we were never told what to do in that scenario.

Finally, King Ashton spoke up. "Ladies of the Selection, I am so sorry. From now on, I will be adding more guards to be on duty at night, as well as guards posted in the hall with your rooms."

We all nodded and returned to our rooms, where we stayed for the rest of the day. When I told my maids about what happened, they were shocked. Nia even cried a bit, as she knew one of Sonya's maids, Beth.

Normally, I would never pass up and opportunity to eat the palace's delectable food, but I couldn't touch mine. I wrote to Tuck, telling him about the rebels and Sonya. I also congratulated him on Natasha.

We were told that Sonya's funeral would be the next day. I felt terrible for her family, as her death was completely unexpected.

That evening, I heard a knock at my door. "Hello, dear." Daniel said, although he wasn't smiling.

"I'm so sorry about Sonya." I said, patting his shoulder. Even though I knew where his heart laid, I knew he cared about all of the Selected.

"I can't believe it." He said. "I'm sure you're unsettled by this. But, there's a draft coming up. That means more protection and less worry."

That was a bit comforting. "Okay," I said, giving him a weak smile.

"And," Daniel continued. "My father and I are working on a plan to intercept the rebels. If it works, we won't having any issues with them."

"That's great," I said.

"And one more thing." Daniel said. "I'm concerned about everyone's safety here. Tonight, I'll be eliminating five girls. Anyone I should keep?"

"Thanks for telling me." I replied. "Please keep Selena and Mara."

"Of course. Anyway, I have go get going," Daniel told me, heading out. "See you later."

"Bye, Daniel."

An unsaid rule said that everyone should eat in their rooms, and I'm assuming that everyone obeyed. I managed to eat a little bit of my gourmet pasta, but it was so hard with what happened to Sonya.

I went to bed that night in a morbid mood. I'd never even known Sonya, but the fact that the rebels would go as to far as to kill her made me hate them even more.

Writers note:

Hi guys! It's been a while since I've written a writers note but I'm back at it. Sorry if killing off a character you've never heard of until now made you question the plot. Besides this, I have a question for you lovely readers. If this peice of writing was turned into a movie, who would you want to be the cast?
