But the thing about soulmates- it's a false hope.

When the night grew old, the storm inside Asahi subsided a little. He took his head off Jaehyuk's shoulder, wiped the corner of his eyes, sniffed a few times as well. The cold was making his hair stand up, although Jaehyuk offered him the cardigan back a while ago. Asahi stood up, startling Jaehyuk.
"Where are you going?" Jaehyuk asked. He was scared to lose Asahi again. The younger extended his hand instead of replying. Jaehyuk took that soon and followed him.
Asahi walked towards his worn out house. It looked scary before, but standing right in front of it, it simply looked pitiful. Asahi unlocked the door with a key. The house was dark. Maybe dimly lit lights were there, or maybe they were just candles. Asahi tuned on a brighter light.
"Sorry, um... We don't usually have guests." Asahi was feeling a little embarrassed. Jaehyuk assured him.
"Let me show you something first." Asahi said to Jaehyuk, and then took turn and knocked on a door. No response came out of the room. Asahi still opened the door, and Jaehyuk peeked through. He saw someone lying on a bed. At first he didn't quite make it, but soon he realized, she was a woman, muttering things on her own.
"What is she..." Jaehyuk stopped because the words she was saying weren't making any sense. It seemed like she was weeping, and asking someone why it had to be her.
"She's crying..." Jaehyuk mumbled. He felt so bad for the person on the bed.
"Yes. That's my crazy mother." Asahi spoke with so much bitterness that it could even hurt the rocks. Jaehyuk snapped his head at his soulmate. He had no idea the crying woman was his mother!
"Why aren't you going to her then?" He asked. Asahi shook his head. "No use. It's been going on for years now. Some days she is fine, talks and works like a normal human being. But then other days, she acts like she's sick in the head. She won't eat, drink, even get up from the bed! She would stay there and cry! Cry and complain about the bastard of a soulmate she has."
"You mean... Your father?" Jaehyuk asked fearfully.
Asahi nodded in agreement, "He left her with two little kids for another woman." He gritted the words out of his teeth.
"But how can he walk away with another woman when she's his soulmate?"
"There's no fucking thing as soulmates!" Asahi spat, "It's just the exaggeration of a temporary love! That we all believe will last forever! In the end we all end up like that." He pointed at his mother. His throat was already drying up. Piled up sadness shook his voice. He cried, "She's such a gorgeous, enviable woman, Jaehyuk ah! She didn't deserve it."
Jaehyuk felt guilty for no reason. Asahi was going through so much! He gently hugged Asahi by the sides. He didn't know how else to comfort the torn boy.
"It's okay, Asahi. I'm here. You got me now. Don't worry. Now that I know what made you mistrust me I-"
"No, you don't know." Asahi looked up. With his sleeves, he wiped away the tears on his face. "Come here." He took Jaehyuk to his own room.
Unlike the rest of the house, it was pretty decent. Asahi was a student, a teacher too. Of course his room had books and all the necessary furniture. On the corner, a table was seen. There was a photo zone, decorated ages ago, as there were dust and wrinkles on the photos.
Jaehyuk saw the kid Asahi, with a small taller girl, probably his sister. There were pictures of their mother too. She indeed was a pretty woman. The male figure had his head crossed out. Asahi must have done it out of anger. Jaehyuk didn't get to know how the traitor father looked like.
