"Ember?" Michael asked suddenly. Ember sat up from where she nearly dozed off on the couch.
"Yeah?" Ember yawned. She was going to go to bed, but her and Michael got into a deep conversation about who knows what. The clock on the TV box read 2:46 am. The blinds were closed along the sliding doors that led to their balcony, and the only light in the small living room was being omitted from the lamp which stood next to the TV. The room held a very relaxed atmosphere. Michael was standing in the middle of the living room, with a look in his eyes that Ember couldn't read.
"Is there something wrong?" Ember asked, swinging her legs over so she was sitting on the couch upright. She was slightly slouched over and she clasped her hands in her lap. Ember trailed her gaze up to look at Michael. He shook his head.
"Then what is it?" Ember asked tilting her head to the side. Michael bit his lip slightly and looked around the room, half of his face was shaded due to him being in front of the only light source in the otherwise darkened room.
"Okay, before I do this I want you to be warned." Michael took a deep breath. "I'm not gonna be good at this."
"What're you trying to say?" Ember asked. "I don't like the suspense you're leaving me in."
Michael nodded his head and cleared his throat as he stood in front of Ember.
"I'm not good at this, so I'm going to try and say this in as little words as I can." Michael began and Ember smiled urging him to continue. "I met you two years ago in a bar. I didn't know where things were going to go, but I knew you were very beautiful and I didn't want to just let meeting you go to waste. So I asked you out and look where everything ended up. It's ended up with me standing in front of the girl I care for and love with everything I have. I'm going to ask you right now, just please don't cry or I'm going to cry, will you marry me?"
Ember felt her heart beating hard, "Yes of course, without a shadow of a doubt."
Michael got down on one knee and took a ring with a single diamond in it, it was simple just the way he and Ember liked. He slid it onto her finger with ease and Ember got off the couched and wrapped her arms around Michael's neck and hugged him tightly.
"Is that why you did this?" Ember asked him. She felt Michael nod next to her which made her smile even more.
"I wanted to show you all the places we had our firsts so it would remind you why you fell in love with me, you know, in case there would be any doubt with your decision." Michael replied wrapping his arms even tighter around Embers waist. Ember pulled back and planted her lips on his. They stayed together and kissed for a long time, they had no idea how long.
"I love you." Ember mumbled when they finally pulled away.
"I love you too." Michael replied smiling widely.
"Can I go to sleep now?" Ember said playfulness apparent in her voice. Michael rolled his eyes playfully and nodded.
