"Well that was definitely not what I had been expecting." Ember said to Michael as they began driving away from her parents home.

"Again, that's the definition of surprise." Michael laughed, keeping his eyes strictly on the road.

"You keep saying that." Ember replied looking at him when the reached a red light.

"Well it's true!" Michael laughed loudly. They drove for a longer time than they had before. Ember felt herself beginning to sleep before Michael gently shook her awake. She looked at him with confusion as he walked out of his side of the car and opened her door for her.

"Where're we going on our adventure now?" Ember asked, yawning as she stepped out of Michael's car.

"Recognize anything?" Michael asked. Ember tucked her purple hair behind her ear and looked around the area. At first she didn't recognize anything, and started to think Michael was on something since he drove her all the way out here for no reason. Then it hit her like a bus, this was the place they had gone on their first road trip.

---flashback---

"How much freaking sunscreen do you need?" Ember laughed as she sat on Michael's bed and watched him pack. Michael had decided to take her on a surprise trip. He knew Ember didn't like surprises, but he decided that they should go on a trip since they had been going out for 5 and a half months. Yes, Michael did count half months.

"Have you seen my skin? I don't tan, I burn." Michael replied. Ember shook her head and laughed. Michael tossed more random clothes in his suitcase. Ember watched as he stood his suitcase up, then sat next to her on his bed.

"What made you want to suddenly go on this trip?" Ember asked as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"I dunno, it sounded like a good idea. Plus, Luke said he took his girlfriend here and they had fun." Michael replied, putting an arm around her shoulders. They stayed like that for awhile, just enjoying each other's company in Michael's simple room. Ember closed her eyes for a second to take in everything. She had been in other relationships before, but this one felt different. Not a bad different, a good different. If that was even possible.

Soon enough, they got up and grabbed their things. They walked out to Michael's car and Michael lazily tossed their stuff in the small trunk of his car. Michael's car wasn't exactly the nicest, but it was enough for him. Ember didn't mind that as well, she wouldn't mind if he drove around in a push scooter.

"How much longer?" Ember asked, after only around 10 minutes of driving.

"We've been driving for literally like 10 minutes." Michael laughed loudly.

"It feels like a lifetime." Ember sighed and slumped down in her spot in the passenger side. She laid her arms across her stomach and looked at the grey ceiling of the car. Ember always admired how neat Michael was about everything. His car was perfectly clean, and there weren't things thrown on the floor or any stains anywhere. They continued to drive on through the day.

They stopped at a gas station after around thirty minutes of singing along to the CD's he had in his car, and they had talked about anything ranging from what they had for breakfast to childhood pets. Ember grabbed a bottle of water, and Michael had grabbed a bottle of soda. Not really wanting to get back on the road just yet, they sat on the hood of his car for awhile just watching the area surrounding them.

There were fields surrounding the gas station with a small tackle shop across the street, seeing there was a river about a mile from the gas station. It was only around 1 o'clock in the afternoon which meant the sun was high in the sky. The mid-summer breeze blew through Embers still faded blue hair. She sighed contently a bit as she opened the water bottle.

"This is nice." Michael stated as he leaned back so his back was leaning against the windsheild.

"Yeah it really is." Ember replied, looking at Michael. She smiled at him before scooting closer to him, and wrapping her arms around his waist from the side. Ember heard Michael let out a content breath as he put his arms around her and leant his head against hers. They stayed like that for awhile, feeling like they were in their own little world. Soon enough Michael took out his phone and checked the time. Then, they decided it would be best to keep moving.

Only about 20 minutes later, they made it to the destination. Michael had already let himself out of his car and went to get the luggage that belonged to him and Ember from the backseat. Ember let herself out of the passenger side and closed the door behind her. She stretched out her arms and looked at the motel in front of them. It wasn't a run down motel though. It was a lot nicer than that. There was clean siding around the whole building and the second story to the building had a balcony that wrapped around the front and the back.

"Where'd you find this place?" Ember looked around at the trees that stood on either side of the motel.

"Luke told me about it, him and his girlfriend Ari came here awhile ago. He always talks about it." Michael looked up from where he was shutting the back door to his car, and smiled at Ember. She returned the smile and they walked to the room Michael told her about. Ember walked around the room with two beds, and a dresser in the front. There was a sliding door that led to the wrap around patio. There was a hill outside which rolled down into a small lake.

Ember sat on the edge of the white sheeted bed, and watched as Michael laid down next to her. She glanced over her shoulder at him as he put his arms behind his head and stared at the ceiling. Ember just sat and watched Michael for a couple minutes. He had his eyes closed and he looked like he was napping. Ember knew it seemed a little creepy, but she couldn't help it.

Michael opened one eye and noticed her staring before he laughed, "I've got an admirer?"

"Sorry." Ember let out a laugh before looking down at her lap and blushing fiercely. Michael laughed again before reaching up and running a hand through her hair.

"Don't worry, it's cute." Michael sat up and gave her a quick kiss. Ember smiled at him when they pulled away.

Ember looked at him with a thoughtful gaze. She looked at him again, and she got a feeling in the pit of her stomach that she couldn't ignore. She knew it was a good one though.
