Y/N leaned against the stall frame watching the Gunther and Petra gush over street sweets and snacks at the store while waiting for the Captain to sign off the pick up of their inventory. They had arrived in Krovla half an hour last noon. Given formalities and all the important paper work Levi had to do before they left, he gave the crew of 10 a little bit of time to explore the city's market.
She chuckled at the sight of Gunther's sad attempt at haggling for a cheaper price. The old lady standing behind the counter was much more stubborn than he had expected.
Holding a paper bag of steaming sweet potatoes, Eld walked over Y/N who smiled amusingly at her friends.
"Are we going?" Y/N asked the second in command.
"In a bit, the Captain is wrapping things up." He poked a skewer through the soft meat of the orange delight. "Want one?"
She pushed off the door frame, eyes lit up at the sweet treat. She nodded. Eld blew on the steaming potato cube, cooling it down before handing it to her. "Thank you," she chirped. "Oh that's good! I might get one for myself."
"I don't mind sharing..."
"REALLY? ELD MY BEST FRIEND," Gunther gushed pushing up against Eld as he tried to sneakily steal a piece.
Annoyed, he whacked the teen upside his head, "Get your own!" The girls choked down on a laugh as the two males bickered about sweet potatoes and how Gunther shouldn't be too stingy to, quote, support the local economy.
"Alright, boys, cut the crap. I'm buying, who wants one?," She offered up, feeling generous.
Gunther scooted beside her, clinging onto her arm. "Can I kiss you?" He asked, fluttering his eyes, lips pursed, Y/N pushed his forehead back with her finger, shaking his arm off her.
"Gunther, I will slap you," she warned in a joking manner. Petra snickered from behind them.
"Cling on to her any longer and she might change her mind, Gunther," Eld reminded, scaring the boy. Gunther quickly let go of her and bowed.
"This way, ma'am," he guided with his hands, an innocently kind smile on his face.
The three hopped over to the shop manned by a blonde, green-eyed young man. "My, my, what can I do offer the pretty ladies and their handsome friend?"
"We'll take three," Y/N ordered, she turned her head back, catching a glimpse of the Captain paying for the inventory and Oruo loading the wagon. "Actually, make that five, please."
"Alright five sweet potatoes coming right up."
"Oh, could you have them in seperate bags if you don't mind."
"Will do, anything for a gorgeous customer," he noted cheerily. The man skillfully chopped up the sweet potatoes, drizzle honey over them and packed it so quickly if you blinked you'd miss it. "That will be 50 silvers but, I'll give you a discount if you'd meet me for dinner sometime," he said as he passed the bags to her friends. Petra elbowed her friend's side as wiggling her eyebrows at the bold advance.
Y/N counted exactly 50 coins and dropped in the seller's palms, their fingers slightly grazing past one another. "I'm flattered," she said, "but I'm just passing by. I'm sure with your cooking skills and charm, there will be many women out there dying to go on a dinner date eith you, kid."
"Bummer," he pouted, then flashed his bright smile again. "We're glad to have you here. I hope Krovla has treated you guys well this trip. Do stop by whenever you are back in town, ladies and gentlemen, you are always welcomed."
"Oi! Howard! Get moving before the bread burns!" the grandmother nagged. "We'll be selling charcoal by the day ends, kiddo!"
"Coming Grandma!" he called out and wished the travellers a safe trip.
