I drove Karkat to my house. I couldn't just leave him alone at school. Or worse, take him home and have his brother talk his head off about the situation.

It was weird. The drive to my house that is. It was so quiet. Scary quiet.

I'm so used to Karkat just yelling and ranting that its literally scary to see him like this.

Bad enough he seemed distant before, now...I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't talk for a long time.

"Karkat?"

"Hmm?"

"Oh. I wasn't sure if you fell asleep or not. But anyway we're at my house now so..."

"Ok. Thanks for letting me stay over for today."

"Your welcome Karkat."

~time skip to later on in the day~

He still wouldn't talk about what happened today with Dave. I've been asking around, and people said that Dave hit him. I can't believe that though.

Dave's not like that. Is he?

"Karkat, I know you probably don't want to, but I'm here if you wanna talk. You don't have to force yourself to hold it in and do you chem homework."

"Well, maybe my hellwork is my way of dealing with shit. Ever thought of that John?"

"Seriously? Hellwork?"

"What? Its true. Its work from hell. Hellwork."

"I...I can't disagree with that..."

"Good. Now...what do you want to know?"

"You're actually going to talk to me?" He just shrugged, and I smiled a little. He never talks to anyone except for Kanaya. "Ok well, maybe just start from what happened before I showed up. I think that's a good place to start."

"Yeah...that's where I started questioning my decision on being with that stoic ass."

"Come on, it can't be that bad. Right?" Karkat looked at me like he just watched his beloved puppy get by a car.

Well shit.

Guess it was that bad.

"Do you need a hug?" I opened arms and he immediately fell into me. I held onto him tightly, rocking him slightly. I could tell he was crying, even though he was trying to hide it.

Something like this hasn't happened in a while. The last time something like this happened was last year.

But wasn't Dave part of that too?

I don't remember. But that's a story for another day.

We stayed like this for a long time. During that time Karkat babbled about everything that happened today.

Its sad really.

When they came into school this morning, and we all figured out that they were together, we were happy for them. Neither one has had much luck with relationships in the past year. And it seemed like a perfect match for once.

I guess not though.

This is worse than my relationship with my girlfriend, Vriska.

She's a bit pushy and only wants to watch Nic Cage movies with me, but its nothing compared to what Karkats going though.
