After his mission Steve barged into Fury's office.
"You just can't stop yourself from lying, can you?" Steve started
"I didn't lie. Agent Romanoff had a different mission than yours," Nick said
"Which you didn't feel obligated to share" Steve added.
"I'm not obligated to do anything" Nick remarked
"Those hostages could've died, Nick" Steve pointed out
"I sent the greatest soldier in history to make sure that didn't happen" Nick stated
"Soldiers trust each other, that's what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around and shooting guns" Steve explained
"The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye. Look I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff is comfortable with everything" Nick said
"I can't lead a mission when people I'm leading have missions of their owns" Steve told him
"It's called compartmentalization. Nobody spills the secrets because nobody knows them all" Nick replied
"Except you" Steve pointed out
"You're wrong about me. I do share, I'm nice like that" Nick remarked
Fury got into an elevator and Steve followed him.
"Insight bay" Nick said
"Captain Rogers does not have clearance for Project Insight" the computer stated.
"Director override, Fury Nicholas J" Nick responded.
"Confirmed" the computer answered
The elevator then began to go down
"You know, they used to play music" Steve pointed out.
"Yeah. My grandfather operated one of these things for forty years. My grandad worked in a nice building, he got good tips. He'd walk home every night, roll of one's stuffed in his lunch bag. He'd hay "hi", people would say hi back. Time went on, neighborhood got tougher. He'd say "hi" they'd say, keep on steppin'. Grandad got grippin that lunch bag a little tighter," Nick explained.
"Did he ever get mugged?" Steve wondered
"Every week some punk would say, 'what's in the bag'?" Nick said.
"What did he do?" Steve asked.
"He'd show em. Bunch of crumpled ones and loaded .22 Magnum" Nick answered and smiled. "Grandad loved people. But he didn't trust them very much." Fury continued.
The elevator kept going down almost reaching the bottom as Steve saw huge Helicarriers.
"Yeah, i know they're bigger than a .22" Nick commented.
They got off and walked around
"This is Project Insight. Three next generation Helicarriers synced to a network of targeting satellites" Nick explained.
"Launched from the Lemurian Star" Steve said.
"Once we get them in the air they never need to come down. Continuous suborbital flight courtesy of our new repulsor engines" Nick replied.
"Stark?" Steve guessed
"Well, he had a few suggestions once he got an up close look at our old turbines. These new long rage precision guns can eliminate a thousand hostile a minute. The satellites can read a terrorists DNA before he steps outside his spider hole. We gonna neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen" Nick explained.
"I thought the punishment usually came from the crime" Steve pointed out
"We can't afford to wait that long" Nick remarked
"Who's we?" Steve asked
"After New York, I convinced the World Security Council we needed a quantum surge in threat analysis. For once we're way ahead of the curve" Nick stated
"By holding a gun at everyone on Earth and calling it protection?" Steve says getting a bit angry
"You know I read this SSR files. Greatest generation? You guys did some nasty stuff" Nick told him
"Yeah, we compromised. Sometimes ways that made us not sleep so well. But we did it so the people would be free. This isn't freedom, this is fear"Steve explained.
"SHIElD takes the world as it is, not as we'd like it to be. It's getting dam near past time for you to get that program, Cap" Nick stated.
"Don't hold your breath" Steve told him
Steve started to walk off
"Don't you want to know the good news I had in store for you?" Nick asked
"It would be nice to get some good news, so what's the news?" Steve said turning to face Nick
"We found a close friend of yours at an old HYDRA facility. She was frozen similar to you she was in a machine. She is alive and well. We saw her files and her name is Adeline Rose Barnes also known as Nightshade the name given to her, by HYDRA" Nick said.
Steve was in shock she had gone missing 2 days before Bucky left and before he even left.
"Where is she now?" Steve asked eager to see her.
"She is in a room I'll take you to her" Nick said as he began to walk, Steve close behind him.
