Steve and Adeline and Steve stepped into the elevator.
"Operations control" Steve told the computer
"Confirmed" it responded
"Soo....technology can talk now?" Adeline asked surprised
"Yeah, Nick inputted your information so it doesn't think your an intruder" Steve said with a chuckle
"Well that's good considering I was basically a HYDRA experiment." Adeline said
"So what did you need to talk to me about?" Steve asked
"Oh, right so as we were in the office I.." Adeline started but gets cut off by Rumlow who came in with two agents right before the elevator doors closed.
"Keep all STRIKE personnel on site" Rumlow informed.
"Understood" the first agent responded
"Yes, sir" the second added
"Forensics" Rumlow told the elevator A.I
"Confirmed" it responded
"Cap, Nightshade" he greeted, turning a bit to look Adeline up and down with a smirk making her get a chill down her spine causing her to scoot really close to Steve
"Rumlow" Steve greeted back putting an arm over Adeline noticing her discomfort.
The elevator doors close and they start to go down
"Evidence response found fibers on the roof they want us to see. You want me to get the tac-team ready?" Rumlow asked
"No, let's wait and see what it is first" Steve told him
"Right" Rumlow replied
Steve and Adeline saw the agents touch his shield, which immediately made them suspicious. The elevator stopped and opened to reveal more SHIELD agents.
"What's the status so far? The first agent asked
"Administrations level" the second agent said
"Confirmed" the A.I responds
"Excuse me" the second agent said to them
"I'm sorry about what happened with Fury. Messed up, what happened to him" Rumlow told them
"Thank you" Steve said as Adeline was sensing it's not gonna end well
They looked around to see an agent muttering something as a bit of sweat rolled down his face. Suddenly the elevator doors open to let in more agents.
"Records" the agent said
"Confirmed" the computer responds
The doors closed and the two knew they were surrounded.
"Ready when you are" Adeline says in Steve's head causing him to take his arm off from around her
"Before we get started, does anyone want to get out" Steve asked
There was silence until one of the agents tried to shock them with an electric rod. Adeline punched the man and blasted one back hitting the elevator wall. The other joined in and attacked them trying to put magnetic cuffs on them. Steve managed to knock some of the men down but one cuff was on his wrist. The agents had already gotten Adeline, her not being strong like Steve was pinned to the wall by the cuffs. Rumlow then used his rod to shock Steve.
"Steve!" Adeline yelled
"Don't worry honey I won't hurt you besides they will be happy to have you back" Rumlow told her
Adeline didn't want to go back and kicked rumlow, then used her power to remove the cuffs.
As Adeline fought Rumlow with the training they gave her, Sitwell watched on the monitors in the control room.
"Mobilize STRIKE units, 25th floor" Sitwell informed
Steve managed to free himself from the magnet cuff , taking care of the other agents while Adeline fought off Rumlow. Adeline blasted him up making him hit the roof of the elevator and hit the floor. As he began to get up on his knees Steve and Adeline glared at him.
"Whoa, big guy. I just want you to know, cap this ain't personal" Rumlow said.
Rumlow attempted another attack, but Steve deflected it and knocked him out cold.
"It kinda feels personal" Sam remarked
"Yeah" Adeline added
Steve got his shield and the elevator door opened. They saw a team of agents aiming their weapons toward them.
"Drop the shield! Put your hands in the air!" An agent commanded
Adeline closed the doors with her power.
"Hold on" Steve told Adeline
She held to the handles of the elevator and Steve broke the elevator wires with his shield, sending them down. They stopped and Adeline began to open the door only to see more agents so she slammed them shut.
"Give it up you two! Get that door open! You have nowhere to go!" An agent yelled
"I have an idea" Steve said
"Okay let's do it" Adeline replied
Steve smashed through the glass in the elevator and plummeted down.
"Should've asked" Adeline said
She jumped out the elevator and Steve hit the ground pretty hard using his shield to block most of the impact. Adeline used her power to land perfectly and unharmed.
"Next time tell me your plan, so you won't land as badly" Adeline said helping him up.
"Right, next time" Steve said
Sitwell watched in disbelief as he saw where they were heading.
"Are you kidding me?" He muttered then commanded the agents "they are headed for the garage. Lock down the bridge!"
Steve and Adeline rode out of the SHIELD garage on his motorcycle. He dodged the obstacles laid out but then a Quinjet got in-front of them.
"Stand down, Captain and Nightshade, stand down" the pilot commanded, got his machine gun ready and repeated "repeat stand down"
Steve revved the engine, gaining speed as the quinjet open fire. Steve threw his shield into the propellers to jam it. Adeline then used her magnokinesis to make his shield come to her and used her power to damage the jet a bit more.
"I think you might want this back" Adeline said putting the shield on his back, as they made their escape from the facility.
Meanwhile, Sitwell walked to all the Shield agents in the control center.
"Eyes here" he said getting their attention, then explained, "whatever your op is, bury it. This is level one, contact DOT. All traffic lights in the district go red. Shut all the runways at BWI, IAD and Reagan. All security cameras in the city go through this monitor, right here. Scan all open sources: phones, computers, PDA's whatever. If someone tweets about these two, I want to know about it."
"With all due respect, if SHIELD is conducting a manhunt for Captain America and Nightshade, we deserve to know why" Sharon pointed out.
"Because they lied to us" Pierce said as he walked in and continued, "Cap and Nightshade have information regarding the death of Director Fury, they refuse to share it. Nightshade might not know much, but she'll stick with him and considering she was HYDRA's pet long ago who's to say she will not turn on us. As difficult as this is to accept, Captain America is a fugitive along with nightshade."
