"You must be Frost." The demon eyed Frost with discontent, "I am Evergreen of the Demons."
"A demon?!" Frost thought in a panic. He grabbed Sky by the wing, and immediately bolted away.
As he ran, he heard countless angry complaints from Evergreen, but he didn't stop. He ran and ran. Until he was certain that Evergreen was lost on their trail.
But suddenly, he heard a voice.
"Please. I can't believe you are the person Emperor Icicle sent!" Evergreen muttered, as she appeared behind them.
"What?!" Frost stopped dead in his tracks.
"Yes. Emperor Icicle sent me to find you! But... I wasn't expecting a macaw! What's your name, may I ask?"
"She says a lot of exaggerations." Came Sky's voice in Frost's mind, which startled Frost. He had kinda forgotten this whole "telepathic communication " thing.
"My name? Oh my name is of course, Artic." Sky replied with a small bow.
"What? Isn't your name Sky?" Frost asked telepathically.
"Yes. But I suspect she's a spy. I'll explain later."
"What?! Why..." Sky disconnected their connection.
"Oh. Artic? Huh. Because, you see. Two animals stole the potion of speech a few nights ago. And honestly? They looked a lot like you two... but. Anyway, please. Come with me. I will get you all cozy and snug." Evergreen motioned them forward.
When they hesitated, Evergreen sighed and said, "Don't you two trust me?"
"Uh, we barely know you. As a matter of fact, you are a stranger who jumped out of a bush." Frost snapped. "Ooh. You've got a bit of an attitude! But seriously. Emperor Icicle sent me." Evergreen concluded, and raised her eyebrows.
"And. We are in the middle of a quest, ma'am. So what are you expecting?" Frost muttered. "Oh. Well. Emperor Icicle sent me to find you, and since Emperor Icicle is the person who sent you on the quest, you are technically supposed to listen to me." Evergreen said.
"Yup. We're coming." Sky piped.
Frost shot him a surprised look. "What?" He thought. Sky put on the most reassuring smile he could muster and nodded.
"Um. Yeah. We're coming." Frost decided. There was no good arguing with Sky the Macaw.
As they walked, Frost studied the demon skeptically. She had a deep green face which was streaked with wrinkles. ("Probably from the weird facial expressions she does.") Her lime green eyes had streaks of brown in it, and it was always shining brightly. ("Pretty shiny for a demon") She was quite tall, and had balls of fluff on her hands and legs. ("Quite unusual for a demon.") She had a green sling bag slung over her shoulder, and wore dark green leather clothes. ("She loves green doesn't she?")
"So. I hope your journey has been great so far." Evergreen said as they trudged through the damp and muddy forest. "It was... alright." Frost muttered, eyeing the fluff on Evergreen's hands with curiosity.
"Great! I hope those supplies Emperor Icicle sent came in handy?" Evergreen said again, this time with a fake smile plastered on her forest green face. "They worked... alright." Frost murmured.
