*Jonah POV*I lounge on the couch in Cassidy's hospital room as she lays asleep. Jack finally coached her to sleep after a few hours of light talking. She didn't really say a word to anyone after Zach said we knew what she went through and her asking how Corbyn was.
What Zach said was fucking stupid. We don't know what happened in that house, and we probably never will. She'll either take that shit to the grave or she'll tell Corbyn and he'll take it to the grave.
We've all been taking turns leaving the hospital to go do whatever, shower, eat, sleep. We've been given no information on Corbyn, besides that he's out of surgery.
I've seen Saskia, Corbyn's mom and his two younger siblings, leave the hospital when it hit one in the morning. His mom was in tears, his brother and sister seemed uneasy, but no tears were being shed.
Daniel stumbles into the room as I watch some highlights from the Dodgers game I missed yesterday as we stormed Victors house.
I move my legs for him to sit on the couch beside me but I don't take my eyes off my phone. He sits down furthest away from me, but places his Tesla key in my lap, so I can drive his car to go home and change.
"Any word on Corbyn?" Daniel sighs as he rubs his hands on his thighs on the side of his sweatpants.
"Nothin'." I mumble, resting a finger against my lip as they hit a home run.
"Any results back for Cassidy's tests?" I hate small talk
"She had a lot of morphine and levonorgestrel in her blood stream."
"Lev- What?"
"It's the shit in Plan B." The doctor said it was most likely ingested with a bunch of water, as her stomach had no contents of food. I don't know if she took it, or someone forced her to.
"Do you hate me too?" Daniel whispers, sounding like he's about to choke on some tears.
I lock my phone, placing it in my jeans pocket along with his car key, as I desperately need to go home to change. Dried blood doesn't feel great to sit in. I turn my body slightly so I'm able to look at Daniel. He looks defeated, no doubt thinking everyone hates him for somewhat putting us in this position.
I can see where Corbyn is coming from, Daniel lied and created this giant chain reaction of events. If Daniel didn't lie, Corbyn wouldn't be on his death bed right now. But I can also, somewhat, see where Daniel is coming from. Yeah, he shouldn't have lied and said he slept with his bosses girlfriend, but he's scared now. We're, kind of, all he has left, so he doesn't want to lose us. He abandoned his family years ago, we're all he has left.
"I don't hate you, but you have to tell Cassidy that it was you." I look to the girl with bruises covering about 90 percent of her body. She looks weak and fragile as she lays awkwardly with a cast on her left hand.
"Tell her what?" Daniel looks towards Cassidy, and I watch him release a heavy breath
"That you were the one that told Corbyn she cheated on him. You have to tell her why you even said that too." I know this isn't some situation where Daniel wanted them to break up because he has feelings for her. Daniel hasn't had feelings for a girl since I met him. He wants hookups, no strings attached type shit, I'm just hoping he wasn't dumb enough to break them up for sex.
"I can't tell her that, she'll hate me." Daniel leans back onto the sofa, throwing his head back
"It'll either come from you, or Corbyn and I think it's best if you tell her the full story."
My phone begins to ring in my pocket and I look at the small clock on the wall. Who would be calling me at 2:30 in the morning?
I reach into my pocket, seeing a name that hasn't called me in years.
