I didn't have time. I heard Victor's footsteps comming up. I went inside the secret room. The wall closed. Shoot. How was I supposed to get out, now?

"Mice." Victor snickered. Then I heard the door slam. Until I was sure Victor had left I tried opening the wall. Then I noticed something.

My locket's eye started glowing red. Then I looked the wall, and in the side of it was an inprint that was the shape of my locket.

The old lady said there was treasure hidden inside this house. What if I find the secret room to it? I placed my glowing locket on the inprint and sure enough the wall opened. I walked outside shocked.

Was it magic? Then I looked at the outside of the secret panel. There was another inrpint for the locket. The door closed and I tried opening it. I placed the locket on the inrpint and it opened. But this time when I looked inside I saw a woman's face. I tried not to scream. I backed away slowly until the wall closed.

I decieded to leave so I went down and turned the door knob. Locked. I used my bobby pin. When I opened it I almost flew out and saw Fabian and Amber sanding there.

"How did you get out?" Amber whispered. I showed them my bobby pin and we chuckled.

"So what was it like up there? Any ghosts?"

"No. Mostly rats."

Her mouth swung open. "You are so brave." She yawned then walked away to her room. "Goodnight, you two."

"Goodnight." Fabian and I whispered back.

Fabian turned to me and smiled. "You did well."

"Yeah." I said sarcasticly. "Don't tell Patricia, but my hands were shaking so much it took me three times to put the pin in the lock."

"Your secret's safe with me." Fabian said. "Goodnight." He said and walked away.

I went to the room and went to my bed. Patricia was sleeping with her back facing me. I layed down in my bed and fell asleep.

In the morning I got ready and went down to the kitchen. Everybody clapped except for Patricia. I chuckled.

"We were sure Victor was going to catch you up there." Jerome said imprised.

"Even you have to say, Patricia." Fabian said as I sat down, "Nina passed your little initaiton."

"No she didn't." Patricia said angrily, "She didn't bring anything back from the attic, did she?"

"Actually.." I said as I dug through my bag. I pulled out an old book with some spider webs on it.

Patricia then got mad and walke out of the room.

I walked outside to go to school. Fabian followed me. "Do you fancy walking with me?" He asked me.

What? Oh! I almost nearly forgotten I was in England and that they had thier own words of sayings. I managed a little chuckle.

"Sure. I wouldn't fancy that." I chuckled even more, "Sorry, just trying to get used to England."

Then I turned to Fabian and saw him digging through the dirt and buhes. "This is wierd even for England." I managed to say.

"No, I'm just looking for something."

"That much I got, what I are you looking for?"

"Hang on."

"Okay, i'm hanging."

Fabian stood up. "This." He said and showed me the attic key. "Patricia threw it out the window at night. I think this thing should find it's way to victor's key box."

I laughed and took the key from his hand. "No." I said. "Because i'm going to need this when I get back into the attic.

"You're seriously going back to the attic?"

"It didn't sound crazy until I said it out loud.

"Why would you go back up there? Why would you risk getting caught again?"

"Even though I was scared when I was up there, it was the first time I wasn't thinking about my Grandmother or Patricia, and I need to know If I saw someone up there."

Fabian's faces turned to shock. "You saw someone up there?!" I decided not to tell him about the woman's face I saw.

"Okay," I continued, "I know this sounds crazy, but what if there IS something wierd about Joy's dissapearance? What if Joy's still here?"

Later that day I told Fabian everything that happened up there. As we walked to our locker he said: "So this secret panel, it just flew open when you fell against it?"

Was that the truth? Was I going to tell him my locket has secret powers to unlock secret rooms?

"Sort of." I said. I wasn't about to tell him the whole truth until I could trust him.

"You're a real girl of mystery aren't you?" He said. "Well, if you're going up there again.. i'm going up with you."

"Really?"

"You can trust me, Nina. I promise."

When we got to our lockers I had to go to the bathroom. "I'll be back." I said.

Once I got to the restroom I saw Patricia spying the Mrs. Andrew's and Mr. Sweet in thier office through a tiny hole in the wall.

I decided not to show my face or she'll think I was spying on her, which I was.

"All of this could've been avoided!" I heard Mrs. Andrew's voice, "There is no need for such haste. Patricia is determined to find out what happened to Joy."

"Well, we'll make sure she never does!" Mr. Sweet yelled. I went back to Fabian. When I saw him at the lockers I planned to tell him what happened inthe restroom.

"Fabian, there IS something going on about Joy's dissapearance!"
