6. Clue

Later that day Amber took me to her room. There was candy letters on her bed. It spelled out a message. The message said: Meet me in the laundry room tonight at midnight XOXO

"Mick sent me it." Amber said. "He wants to apologoze for his bad behavior with Mara."

"Who's Mick?" I asked. Then out of the blue a guy with blonde hair came through the door. He was buff with abs.

"Him." Amber said.

Mick looked at Amber. "Amber, I don't want you to be mad at me... okay?"

Amber smiled and hugged him. "Now shoo, I have to get ready for our meeting." Amber shooed him.

Mick seemed surprised. "What meeting?" But I guess Amber didn't hear him and shut the door.

"Why is he sorry?" I asked.

"He's been having more time with Mara than me." She relplied. "And all they do is study."

I chuckled. Victor announced us to bed at 10:00 o'clock.

At midnight I went to the attic door and found Fabian waiting for me. "You ready?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said cautiously. I put the key inside the knob and opened the door. They went up. Fabian examined all the old boxes.

Nina went to the secret panel and placed her locket on the inrpint. The wall opened and they both saw the woman. They covered thier mouth as the screamed.

Fabian got his flashlight and shined it at the woman. I got closer and it was only a portrait.

"It's just a portrait." I said I got it and studied the woman on it. "I know her." I handed the portrait to Fabian and I opened my locket. My locket had the same picture as the girl on the portrait.

"It's the same girl." Fabian said. He turned the portait over and something wierd caught my eye.

"What's that?" I asked. Fabian shined at the back at there were Egyptian hieroglyphics. It was a bed, stairs and eight taly marks.

Fabian took a picture of it. "You know," I said, "the old lady I went to visit said there was treasure hidden in this house."

Fabian looked at me surprised. "What kind of treasure?" He asked.

"Well, the poor lady bearly knew her own name.. so she wasn't that spacific. Maybe... maybe we should visit her tomorrow."

The next morning we were planning to visit Sarah.

"So we'll skip lunch and go visit her?" Fabian asked.

"You're getting really good at this sneaking around thing." I said smiling at him.

Patricia walked in and saw us whispering. "Whisper, whisper, whisper. Very cozy?"

Fabian got mad and stood up. "Let's go." I followed him out.

"Since when were you her friend instead of mine, Fabian?" Patricia asked.

Fabian put his coat on. "Since you became such a whitch, Patricia." That shut her up.

At lunch we went to visit Sarah. Fabian and I walked inside the lobby.

"Who will you be visiting today?" The lady at the desk asked.

"Sarah." I said. I didn't know herast name but fourtunate enough they lead us to her room.

When I walked in Sarah was reading a book in her rocking chair.

"Oh it's you!" Sarah said with so much Joy. Fabian stood at the door. "Did you find the treasure?"

"No." I repied. "That's why I came, to ask you what it was. Also, who's this girl?" I showed her the locket picture.

"Oh, is it you?" She asked with glee.

"No." I chuckled. "She is way to cute."

Sarah looked at Fabian with horror. "Who's that?!"

Was she scared of Fabian? "That's Fabian." I replied. "Fabian meet Sarah. Sarah meet Fabian."

"You musn't let him see it!" She yelled. "Quickly! Hide it!"

I hid the locket in my shirt. "It's okay." I said. "It's gone. Everything's going to be alright."

When they got back at school they still had a couple of minutes left until lunch was over. Nina pulled out the book she found in the attic and she realized it was a book all about Egyptian stuff

"Fabian!" Nina calles him. "There's a section on here that let's you read hieroglyphics!"

Fabian was holding my locket. "She's right." Fabian said. "This girl looks like you. She has the same pretty eyes."

I smiled at him. "My eyes are pretty?" We looked into eachother's eyes. "This whole thing is wierd."
