8.Eye Of Horus

"I have an idea." I said confidently. It was a crazy idea, yes. But it might get Victor off our backs.

While Victor was upstairs talking on the phone I left the spare attic key in front of the door and ran quitely down stairs.

"Wow." Jerome said unimprissed. "You left the key in front of Victor's office.... why?"

Time to explain, I guess. "If he has the key, he won't search us..." was my "best" explaination.

"Why should we back you up?" Jerome asked. True. Why should they? Patricia believes that I have to do something with Joy's dissapearance, already.

"Why?" Fabian replied, "Because you rats are the one's that got Nina in this mess. Stealing the key was your idea."

Victor walked through the door with the key in his hand. He clapped his hands in amuse.

"Very clever." He replied. "Who left it on the floor?"

"Was it you?" He pointed to Jerome.

"No." Victor asked everyone.

"You?"

"No."

"Was it you?"

"No."

Then, he finally pointed to me. "You?" I didn't know what to say! I was stuttering.

"Yes." I took a deep breath.

"She's lying." Fabian replied, "She's covering for me."

"Who was it? Make up your damn minds already!" Victor yelled. Fabian was backing me up.

"It was me." Mick said.

"No, me." Mara cut in.

"I love stealing key's" Amber said. She made it obvious it wasn't her.

"Actually, it was me." Patricia said. I glanced at her in surprised. Was she really going to take the blame for me?

Victor's face got red. "You all can't play me for a fool!" He went back to Jerome. "Jerome, I know you can rely on you."

Everyone looked at him. I waited for him to reply. "It was me." He took a deep breath.

Victor then lost his patience. "That is it! You're all grounded for a whole week and don't try to come crawling back to me saying you didn't do it!"

And with that Victor walked out of the living room. Everyone burst out laughing.

The next day at lunch Fabian followed me to the lockers.

"I've been thinking, Fabian." I said. "I think we should go to your uncle's shop, like right now because lunch is almost over."

Fabian didn't react. He smiled. The way his lips moved... The way his eyes sparkled. Was I in love? Of course.

Fabian replied with a happily, "Okay." We walked out of the school and walked around. Fabian took me to a building where it was all dusty.

Once we walked in I saw Aid. He was bald, had glasses. He wore a buisness suit. His glasses had strings attached to the back so his ears would hold it off.

"Uncle Aid." Fabian said. "How have you been doing?"

Aid stood up from his desk. "Fabian!" He yelled in grace, "I've been good. How about you?"

Then Aid looked at me adjusting his glasses. "Wow." He examined me as if I were a valuable diamond. "And who might this be?"

"Nina." I said. "We're here to ask a question." I pulled out the cylinder.
