Staying in each others' embrace for a few more minutes, I finally lean back a bit. Just enough to still be in Tadashi's arms, but far enough for him to raise his head, not able to keep it on my shoulder anymore.
I let my eyes wander on his face, taking as much in as possible while still being so close. Who knows when the next time would come?
His lovely brown eyes staring right back into my blue ones, those annoyingly perfect eyebrows and that mouth. Those lips, curved into a soft smile that makes my heart beat faster.
Finally the rational thoughts rush back in, bursting my bubble.
"Did you introduce him to Hiro yet?"
I can see on his face the sudden realization.
"Not yet. It's getting late so I'll propably show him tomorrow." we both turn slightly towards the red box as he answers my question, still hugging each other.
After a few more silent seconds Tadashi sighs, "I bet he's gone botfighting again, I should go find him before he does something stupid..."
To my dismay, Tadashi lets go of me, taking one step backwards and sighing once more.
"What about you? Do you want a ride home?"
If I didn't know any better I would say he looks almost hopeful.
"Thank you for the offer, but I feel like I'm getting close to a break through in my project. I need to work on it now, you know how it is."
"Yeah. I know how it is." he graps his helmet and the key to his scooter, "I'll see you tomorrow!" and he's gone.
...
Is it just me or did he sound kinda sad?
...
Naah, it can't be. No way.
Shaking my head to get rid of the though I walk back to my own room, getting back to work.
Now where is that screwdriver?
Oh, there it is.
I tighten one of the screws just a bit.
...
HOW DID IT CATCH ON FIRE?!?!
I drop the project onto the table and rush to get a fire extinguisher.
Getting the red bottle looking thing I spray some of the content onto the burning pieces of, now, garbage.
"So much for the break through..." I exhale, irritated the method didn't work.
Now that the threat of fire spreading out is gone I can feel slight stinging on my palm.
Wincing in pain, I raise my hand to see the damage.
Oh. Pretty red. I guess I burned it when my project caught on fire. I was holding it when it did.
Finally putting the extinguisher down I make my way to the first aid kit located at the end of the hallway my and Tadashi's rooms are.
Though I don't make it further than opening my door, coming face to chest with the one and only Tadashi.
"Oh, hello. Did you forget something?" not wanting to stare at his chest for too long, I lift my eyes to look into his.
"I just wanted to show something to my little brother." his eyes shift to said boy, standing next to him.
I also turn my gaze to the smaller boy, who in turn looks up to me.
"You must be Hiro! Tadashi has told me a lot about you." I offer my right hand for a handshake, using my left hand to push a few strands of hair behind my ear.
While Hiro shakes my hand, Tadashi is being observant.
"What happened?" there was clear worry in his voice and his eyes followed the movements of my left hand, clearly seeing the redness of it.
Again raising my hand upwards so I can stare at my palm I answer him, "I'm fine, my project just caught on fire while I was holding it. I was actually on my way to get a first aid kit just now."
To prove I'm fine, I try to smile sweetly up at him, but he is still worried.
"Do you need help treating it?"
Not wanting to ruin whatever Tadashi wanted to show his brother, I decline his offer.
"No thank you. I just need some cool water and the first aid kit. You have a fun evening with your brother." I turn to walk to the kit at the end of the hallway, "It was nice meeting you Hiro." I smile at the kid and walk away without another word.
Grapping the kit I make my way to the toilets. In there I open the tap and let the cool water pour onto my palm and over the edges, down the drain while my other hand is opening the zipper of the bag of supplies.
I stop the liquid and gently tap the excess water off of my hand with a towel, hissing thanks to the pain.
Using my good hand I dig through the bag, finding a tube of moisturiser, made to help with burns, open the cork and squeeze some of the pudding like cream onto the burn on my palm, rub it gently and then I wrap a gauze around my hand and secure it around my wrist.
"There. That should do it." I sigh, "Back to the beginning..."
