"I feel like it's a good thing the café is closed today so your aunt won't need to throw every customer out so she can be with you and Hiro." we make our way out of the house and get on the hover board I used before.
And in no time we are on our way to the Lucky Cat Café.
"I am happy I can spend another day with my family and tell them how much I love them." he tightens his hold on my torso, as I am the one in front, controlling the board.
Thanks to the speed of the board, it doesn't take long before I slow down so we don't crash in to the Lucky Cat Café's wall. We hop off and make our way inside and Tadashi calls out to his aunt and brother.
First silence.
Then the rapid sound of footsteps.
Two people stumbling down the stairs and then stopping right in front of us.
Two sets of eyes focused only on Tadashi.
Then tears falling before they rush to embrace the man they thought was lost to the fire.
Baymax walks downstairs and greets us.
That's when Tadashi's family first notices me.
His aunt gets up and gives me a hug, while Hiro looks a bit more angry.
Okay, a lot more.
"How could you do that? You knew he was alive and never thought to tell us? Do you have any idea what all of us went through?! What I went through!! How could you have been so selfish!" Hiro's happy tears turns into those of anger as his voice gets louder, very clearly not happy.
Tadashi tries to calm him down but I know him to be right.
I should've taken Tadashi to a hospital instead of my house.
I should've informed them immediately.
I should've done more.
Yes, I should have.
I know that now.
I hold back tears of my own, knowing there's no way of telling my side of the story, not when I know for a fact that I am the villain in this story.
"You are right Hiro, I should have. I am not here to get back what has been broken, I just came here to bring Tadashi home. Nice to see you are okay Baymax." the last sentence so random that it makes everyone turn their heads towards the robot still standing behind them.
I take this opportunity to slip out the door quietly and run away.
Tadashi is home.
Now, even though it will hurt, it's time for me to disappear.
I keep running.
To where, I don't know.
But I keep on running.
Through the crowds, through the traffic, the tears in my eyes making it hard to see, but still I keep on running.
And I arrive at the docks.
I make my way to the nearest bench and just sit there. In silence. The only sound being the waves and the far away noice of the city behind me.
Then footsteps.
Soft, soft footsteps.
I keep my eyes fixated on the sea.
"You appear to be upset. What is the matter?"
"I am fine, Baymax. Hiro is right, I should have informed them that Tadashi survived. But how could I? In their eyes, they already lost Tadashi to the fire, how could I have given them hope that he might survive, when he almost died a few times over the three weeks. His heart actually stopped once for heavens sake! How could I have made them go through all that, it wouldn't have been fair. But now. Now Tadashi is all right. He is alive and he is well. There is no reason for me to keep him away from his family any longer. He's home." the more I speak, the more I am reminded of the time Tadashi was unconcious, fighting for his life and now, only in company of Baymax, I let the tears fall.
"He's home, Baymax, and I couldn't be happier." I attempt to grin, but to him I must be looking quite pathetic.
"But my scan tells me, you are hurting." the tone of his voice almost monotone. He is a robot after all.
"I'll be fine. After I leave all of this behind, it's only a matter of time." I let out a dry chuckle.
Getting up from the bench I stretch my arms and speak up once more,
"It was nice meeting you. Take good care of them, will you?"
But Baymax isn't quick enough to answer before another voice interrupts us.
"You're leaving?!"
