I spend the next week working on the new prototype.
Also, like I suspected, Hiro is a fan of our professor and decided to try to get in to our school, apparently now working on something for the student showcase. I hope he gets in!
...
"Okay, this should work now." I press a button and the gadget in my hands starts producing small yellow surfaces that glitch exactly like you see in video games when the screen has those red blue and green pixels.
But then the whole thing glitches and the yellow surfaces vanish.
"NO! It was so close!" I shove my hand into a bowl full of different coloured jellybeans, and throw a few into my mouth.
Chewing on them I start to shake violently.
"Oh, that's disgusting." I moan in disgust and shove a few more inside.
After the flavors explode inside my mouth I decide it's time to finally swallow the content of my mouth. So I try to swallow, once again shuddering due to the horrible taste.
I can feel my eyes tearing up, my body wanting to reject the action of swallowing the mashed jellybeans.
After a few seconds of fighting with my body I am finally able to swallow and afterwards stick out my tongue, making a gagging sound in disgust one more time.
Just in time as well. The second I pull my tongue back into my mouth, there's a knock on my door.
I open the door for a very nervous Tadashi.
"Oh. Hello Tadashi, what can I do for you?" I wipe a stray tear that had escaped, away.
"I-, I was wondering if you would like to, maybe, have lunch with me? Are you okay?" his nervousness mixed with worry, propably because of the tear.
"Jellybeans."
"Oh." and he shudders.
"Yeah." I also shudder, remembering the taste.
Shaking the conversation off, I answer his other question.
"Lunch? Is it really that time already? I would love to have lunch with you. Did you have something special in mind?" while talking I get my bag and lock the door after stepping into the hallway.
"Uh, yeah, kind of. I mean I hope you won't mind us eating outside?" he rubs the back of his neck and starts guiding me towards the elevator.
"Not at all. The weather should be nice."
Stepping into the elevator, Tadashi presses the button for ground floor. I mean obviously, we are going outside, we ain't jumping out a window!
The elevator shakes, a loud crash, and the elevator stops, no whirring noices to be heard.
"Did-, did the elevator just get stuck?!"
Tadashi looks around us and confirms my suspicion, that the elevator is, indeed, stuck.
I push some of the buttons in case any of them worked so we wouldn't be stuck. But just my luck, none of them does.
The only thing left to do is press the call for help-button. Hovering over the yellow bell I hesitate. How do I even introduce myself? What is the address of this school again? What if I stutter? What if they think this is a prank call? What if-
A hand wrapping around my out stretched one invades my mind, chaining down the negative thoughts. My eyes trail from the hand to the wrist, from there to the elbow and up to the face of the person holding my hand in his.
