CHAPTER TWENTY: Truth and Lies

Kenji's POV

"Jamie, what happened to us? Do you really love Vince?" 

Those were the questions that were bugging my head since that doom's day so I gathered the courage to ask. I'm waiting for Jamie to answer yet she seem to be having second thoughts. I've been like hell for these past two days since I heard about her sudden relationship with Vince.

I've thought of all the things to divert my mind yet all the ideas just make it worst. Kung anu-anong kagaguhan ang nagawa ko.

"What happened to us? Do you really love him?" I asked her again. Sana panaginip na lang ang lahat at sana nung dumating kami ng Pilipinas, niligawan ko na siya kaagad.

"It's not what you think, Kenji." She was stuttering while she said that.

Huh? But how come? What does she meant by that? Those words were hanging. Pero umaasa ako. Umaasa ako na hindi talaga totoo.

"What do you mean?" I asked again.

"May gusto lang muna akong itanong sayo bago ko sagutin yan. Okay?" 

Okay, why not? How hard can that question be, right? I have to be truthful if I wanted this thing to work.

"Okay, go on." I muttered but then we heard a knock.

"Come in, manang!"

Aigoo! Just like watching a koreanovela, may commercial din. Si manang talaga, panira ng moment..

"Ma'am Jamie, lagay ko na lang dito yung meryenda niyo. Iinom ka pa ng gamot mo."

"Okay po, manang. Thankie!" 

That smile.. That smile that makes me happy. Nawawala bigla ang galit na nararamdaman ko.

"Ppalli meogeo!" I ordered her. I have to make sure she's doing well. Hindi ko siya naalagaan nung kailangan niya ako.

"Huh? Err.. Di ko nagets." She scratched her head looking confused.

"I said hurry up and eat. You still have to take your meds pa."

Kinuha ko yung baked mac, then I started feeding her. We take turns in eating using the same fork. Normal naman sa amin ni Jamie ang ganito, nakasanayan na, walang hiya-hiya. Sweet right? Indirect kiss. 

But being like this has it's own disadvantages, our closeness and sweetness to each other doesn't make Jamie realize what I really feel for her. She was immune to me. I noticed it's a big problem for me now. May pagkamanhid pa naman itong babaeng 'to. She's too pure and fragile, I guess.

"Ehem! Ehem! Wait lang Kengkoy! Nabubulunan na ko. Dahan-dahan naman" 

I smiled and then I handed her a can of pineapple juice.

"Aish! Ako nga dapat sinusubuan mo, you're still my slave, remember? Next week pa yung expiry ng slavery mo, chubby cheeks! Tss.." I joked about it but it was half meant.
