Chapter 10: Questions

”Meet my Daughter and her *Clears throat* Girlfriend”

Sarah’s jaw dropped as the man faced her

“DAD!?”

“She’s your daughter?” Mr.Rabe’s questioned Sarah’s father. Sarah and Lily were like frozen statues; they were amazed by such coincidence.

“Yes” Mr.Paulson responded calmly with a big smile on his face; he was always proud of Sarah, because even though Sarah’s mischievous and hard-headed; she’s also smart, caring, loving and cunning.

“Please seat down” Lily’s mother said calmly facing the two young ladies, the two snapped out of it; Sarah sat next to her Father as Lily sat next to her father; they were facing each other.

Sarah was kind of intimidated by Mr.Rabe’s presence; something tells her that he’s the strict kind of a dad; and the possibility of not liking her is a sure one.

“Sarah, I’ve heard you are the only child. Why is it that you chose forensic science over business?” Lily’s father asked sternly; Sarah looked at him and gave him a nervous smile as she said:

“Sir, ever since I was young I wanted to be a detective/inspector even though my Father wants me to be a businesswoman. But I want to help the society by putting the real criminals in jail” Sarah said those words in a smart way; Lily looked at her father and he looks impressed and curious, while on the other hand Mr. and Mrs. Paulson, as well as Mrs. Rabe was impressed on how Sarah responded to Lily’s father although they could sense her nervousness.

“What do you mean by real criminals? And are you also interested to join the world of business?” Mr.Rabe followed up another question; Lily’s Mother nudged his arm as he just gave her lovely wife and Sarah’s parents a smile.

Sarah was collecting her thoughts; she took a deep breath before answering the follow up question Mr.Rabe is asking.

“Well sir, I think that there are instances that lack of evidence or witnesses may result for an innocent man or woman for that matter to be wrongly convicted for example sir, Anthony Graves and Timothy Cole. Both were wrongly accused of crimes they didn’t commit; Graves and Timothy were both victims of what I call the “One Testimony Lie” in which only one testimony which is probably a lie imprisoned them and I think that is not just sir. And for the other question… I still don’t know.”

Lily bit her lip as the whole table was silenced, they we’re either amused with Sarah’s answer or not at all. Lily looked at the facial expression of his dad, he was looking straight at Sarah; no facial expression. Just straight faced looking at her

Shit… Shitt…. Shit…. Sarah felt her heart’s beating faster, as the silence just keep getting longer.

Daddd… please… Lily’s mind was racing and so as her heart. What if he won’t accept Sarah and both of them will be separated forever? No… I just said yes last night, please dad…. Pleaseee…

Lily closed her eyes as she prayed for a voice to speak up.

“I must say, I’am impress Ms.Paulson you seem to know what you are doing for such a young age” Lily’s dad said in an impressed tone of voice as he sips his coffee.

*SIGHS* Sarah sighed of relief but she notice that there were also people who sighed along with her, everyone; except for Mr.Rabe

“Girls, you two order something to eat; we’ll just settle something here” Mr.Rabe said nicely
