after a whole day of activities, to say that joshua was tired would be an understatement, a huge one at that.

with a sigh, he put his red hood up and approached the others who were trying (and mostly failing) to put up their tents. it didn't take long for him to spot jeonghan, the boys' blonde hair still shimmering even with the minimal lighting out in the field.

a quick glance around and his eyes immediately fell onto seokmin, the younger messing around with the poles with hoshi while dino kept attempting to read the instruction manual.

he clicked his tongue, averting his eyes from the scene of seokmin smiling brightly at the rest, his heart unable to take the fact that he hadn't directed such a smile towards him in days.

"talk to him." joshua snapped out of his thoughts, looking directly at jeonghan who was doing fine on his own. "what better time is there than the present?"

joshua scoffed, helping jeonghan to hold the tent up. "easier said than done — he just keeps ignoring me when i don't even know what i did wrong-"

"ask him then," jeonghan said, blowing his hair out of the way and patting joshua on the back once the tent stood up on its' own. "you can go offer your assistance with their tent since we're done anyways."

joshua rolled his eyes at his ever perfect roommate, the boy seemingly being good at everything even if he only gave his minimal effort.

but after jeonghans' words, joshua decided to at least try to make amends, slowly walking over to the trio with the sole intention of-

"shua! your class is camping here too?" joshua turned around, lee minho waving and smiling at him and the others who had stopped to see who the newcomer was. "my class is here too!"

sure enough, in the background, he saw a group of 7 waving at them and joshua felt the need to reciprocate their actions.

he nodded in acknowledgement, motioning towards the rest of his class who either waved or went back to their own tent making, the sound of woozi and jun bickering fading into white noise.

joshua felt his heart sink to his stomach the second he felt someone walk behind him, his mind immediately assuming that seokmin had left before he could even get a word out and cursing mentally at minho for his horrible timing.

"it's really cool to see you again," joshua said, stopping himself from gritting his teeth as he did. "but it looks like your classmates need assistance with their tents."

minho laughed, waving him off. "just wanted to say hi and provoke your competitive spirit a little bit by pointing out how we're currently 10 points ahead," he said nonchalantly, smiling before walking backwards back to his class. "i'll bother you again tomorrow little red!"

"i'm taller than you!" joshua yelled, minho already turning around and briskly walking back to his own class with a spring in his step.

regaining his composure, joshua tried again to speak to seokmin but found that the boy was nowhere to be found.

he closed his eyes for a second, feeling a surge of emotions run through his veins as he wondered what his next course of action would be.

but, when his mind came to a blank with his instinct to just manage what was within his reach kicking in, he sighed, approaching what was once the trio to still help them out with their tent despite how his true intention had simply avoided him yet again.
