jun opened his eyes to find himself in the middle of tons and tons of towering trees, their school and any other form of civilisation completely out of sight.

but before he could even panic, he heard coughing from beside him.

he turned around and saw dokyeom on the floor, a shadow looming over him as his hands were slowly being stained black.

"dokyeom-"

"please stay back!" his voice didn't sound like his own, the charms fully breaking and unleashing the dark magic within him, as he hung his head low, slowly burying his hands beneath the soil.

"i don't...i don't know what happened but i panicked and i don't know where we are and what i did but i'm sor-"

jun knelt down and gave him a hug, patting him on the back as he did. "what you did was save us," he said, placing both hands on the side of dokyeoms' face and raising his head up to look him straight into his pitch black eyes. "so thank you dokyeom."

the tears fell, dokyeom silently still blaming himself for putting everyone in danger and yet, jun inched closer to wipe his tears with his sleeve.

"it's just...you're all in danger again because of me and i-"

"we're your friends — we really would not have it any other way. and besides-" jun pointed at the shadow just standing behind dokyeom who was now making a flower crown for itself. "-you seem to have gotten a lot better in handling your magic."

dokyeom turned around, not even knowing that he had managed to subdue the shadow.

"magic is one of the most mysterious, untamed gift in our universe and yet here we are, controlling it to the best of our abilities. actually, dark magic is the most chaotic of them all so the fact that you can tame it – even if it's just 0.1% – is such a big thing!" jun said smiling at dokyeom. "so you should be very proud of yourself you know?"

upon hearing his words, more tears fell, staining the ground black.

all his life, he had ran away from his ancestry, trying hard to properly fit his role as a princess. but it didn't get rid of the fact that he still had that magic in his blood — he was still a descendant of narissa, the villain from the story he was given.

and that shadow (who was currently putting on its' flower crown) served as a reminder of that fact, constantly haunting him be it in reality or in his dreams.

so to see it, completely under his control rather than controlling him made him feel a certain freedom he had never felt before.

"hey! your eyes are back to normal!" jun exclaimed, conjuring a small mirror and showing it to him.

and despite the cracks that were still evident on his face, dokyeom smiled at himself, slowly learning to accept the part of him he had spent all his life hiding in the shadows.

"let's find our way out of here okay?" jun asked, standing up and offering a hand out for dokyeom to take, the younger nodding and gladly taking his hand in his.
