wonwoo snapped a picture, mingyu completely unaware as he tried on a different pair of sunglasses.

"how does this one look?" he asked, turning to face wonwoo who had quickly slung his camera over his shoulder. "does it look weird?"

wonwoo shook his head, giving mingyu a thumbs up which made the younger boy smile as he looked at his reflection again.

'you always look good' was what wonwoo wanted to say but he held himself back, affection not exactly his strong suit.

instead, he preferred to capture their memories in the form of pictures, taking another shot while mingyu looked for a hat and thinking about how pretty the pictures would be to print.

he looked through the other photos that he had taken that day and through them all, he couldn't suppress the soft smile on his face, an almost giddy feeling rising the more he looked at his collection of photos from mingyu eating ice cream to him almost tripping on the pavement.

and then he heard the camera sound.

"say cheese!" mingyu said, holding his phone up and taking photos of wonwoo before the boy could even react. mingyu then faced the phone towards wonwoo and scrolled through the photos he had taken of him. "you look cute in all of these."

wonwoo coughed, taken aback by the sudden compliment as he fumbled with his glasses, his hands unsure of how to react.

mingyu had a certain way about him that always made wonwoo feel as though he were living in an actual fairytale with mingyu as the prince while he was the one in need of rescuing.

apart from his obvious prince-like visuals, wonwoo always appreciated how genuinely welcoming and kind mingyu had been towards him from the very start.

before he knew it, spending time with him, be it to study together or just to walk around the school gardens, had become his favourite past time and now, there they were taking pictures of one another, preserving the memories that wonwoo wished would last a lifetime.

but he won't like you anymore once he finds out.

that voice — a constant reminder of the reality that things could never stay the same.

but he likes me for me.

does he really?

three words were enough to snuff out whatever fighting spirit wonwoo had in him, instantly feeling ashamed of himself for even thinking of a happy ending with mingyu.

as they continued walking around town, wonwoo found himself slowly drowning in his thoughts again, each lifeline mingyu tossed progressively ripping apart in the turbulent waves of his mind.

"wonu? are you okay?" wonwoo looked at mingyu, clear concern painted over his features that wonwoo so badly wanted to engrave into his mind. "you look pale! hold on i think i brought some medication-"

"mingyu..." wonwoo started, eyes shifting as his fingers played with his camera. "will you really like me regardless of what my story is?"

"of course i will — why wouldn't i?" his answer came immediately and in its own way, it made wonwoos' chest feel a little bit lighter than before.

soon, wonwoo found himself staring straight into mingyus' eyes, the younger boys' hands cupping his face gently.

"i will always like you no matter what jeon wonwoo." he didn't realise that tears had fallen until mingyu wiped them off with his thumbs. "don't cry or else i'll cry too!"

"do you mean it?" wonwoo asked, placing his hands over mingyus'.

mingyu nodded, placing a gentle kiss on wonwoos' forehead which completely rendered the boy speechless.
