"okay but why should i care about the history of fairytales when we're gonna abolish them anyways-ow!" vernon yelped, rubbing the back of his head that had been smacked with a ntoebook. upon realising that it was seungkwan who had hit him, vernon smiled brightly, the former resisting the urge to laugh at the expression on his face and maintaining a neutral expression. "on another note, why are we meeting in the evil trinity's room?"
the others looked around the dark room, three beds all in different corners but all nevertheless sharing a similar theme of doom and gloom. jeonghan sighed, seungcheol shifting slightly to make space for him to sit down only for joshua to take his spot. "they have the biggest room and even though it does seem a bit cursed-"
jun shook his head, arms locked with minghao (who claimed to hate it but made no attempt to break free). "it's not a bit cursed — it's definitely cursed!" he stated with a smile, mingyu and vernon moving away from any objects and settling themselves on the floor. "i'm kidding...i think."
jeonghan sighed, taking out a bunch of books from his backpack that seemed to never run out of space. at the sight of the heavy study material, groans erupted (mostly from vernon) around the room.
"i know it's a lot but-" jeonghan split the deck into half, revealing the books that they had been told were out of bounds for mere students like them. "i managed to get these from the library-"
"did you steal from the library?" seungcheol asked, picking up one of the books that appeared to be an ancient copy of the fairytales.
jeonghan shook his head and shrugged. "frankly speaking, i would call what i did borrowing and not stealing," he replied, taking another book out from the pile and showing it to the rest. "this one, if i'm not wrong, was one of the first book of tales. it holds each and every testimony and promise of the chosen people of that time. and, when i was flipping through it last night, i found this."
he flipped through the pages, finding the page and placing it open for everyone to see. the rest huddled around them hurriedly.
despite its yellowing pages and the attempt to scratch out the image and the title, the words still shone through, almost eerily pristine compared to its surroundings which have slowly disintegrated over time.
printed in golden lettering was the title queen narissa. but the name that was left almost untouched, glittering under the light was none other than lee seokmin, the boy that was set to be the next giselle.
