Chapter 20: Truth revealed

"Khushi..Khushi..open your eyes"

Nisha is getting scared as the time passes. It has been more than an hour since Khushi has been in an unconscious state. As soon as her brother slips the ring into her finger, she faints. This creates doubt in her mind. Isn't she happy in her married life? Her reaction to my surprise was shocking one. Nisha thought and stared at Khushi sitting next to her. Looking at her state, her fear was arising.

Arnav patted Nisha's head, assuring to relax. But her brother's assurance did nothing to ease her worry. Nisha can bear anything but cannot see her best friend in pain. This is the only thing Arnav doesn't like. He is furious to see the love and affection she has stored for Khushi.

"Why she is not awake till now"

Hadn't you heard what the doctor said? Due to exertion and starvation, she fainted. Nothing else. Stop overreacting.

"You are unbelievable. Don't you care for YOUR WIFE?"

"Care my foot" The word wife frowned him. But he fakely nodded in order to make his sister believe everything was fine between them.

"What?" Nisha asked, puzzled and stared at her brother and tried to analyse him.

"Nothing." He put on a fake smile.

She got up and held her brother's hand. Bhaiya, I really hope you are making her happy. Never hurt her.. Trust me, you are one luckiest man to be her better half. She is a wonderful soul. She can go to any extent for those she loves," He rolled his eyes. This reflects on his face.

"What happened bhaiya? Did you both fight? Aren't you guys happy in your married life? Oh my god! Is my marriage surprising the reason for her state?" She cursed herself and began getting hyper. Probably that was the reason during the entire ceremony, she seems lost while you engaged to her instead of getting married. Is that so?

"What nonsense are you talking about?" He rose up from his place. "This is not true." He said ignoring eye contact with her.

Nisha's suspicious eyes keep analysing her brother keenly.

"Don't stress yourself and just relax." He tries to calm her, making an attempt to make her believe. But her worry began increasing and it slowly reflected her health. Her head began to hurt. He gets fearful seeing her worsen state. He cursed that girl, Khushi. Angrily, he stares at her, who is sleeping peacefully. But as soon as Nisha gazes at him, he softens and averts his gaze.

"If you love Khushi, why did both of you exchange rings and not marry? This indicates there is something you are hiding from me."

Arnav has no idea what to do and how to calm her. Her health began deteriorating. He needs to do something urgently otherwise he might lose his dearest sister. She is all he has.

"Did you lie to me about your marriage? Look at me and tell me the truth? I know Khushi more than I know anyone. Her happiness means the world to me. Marriage is a lifelong commitment for Khushi. She has a lot of expectation and ambition for her marriage day. But today when you held her hand and took her toward the stage, I noticed unhappiness on her face. The moment you slip the ring on her middle finger, she faints. I ignored it till then. But now I began to connect the dots. Her traumatized state made my assumption correct. There is no happiness, no glow and no smile on her face. Why?" She paused and waited for an answer from her brother.

"You are right. She doesn't want to get engaged to me. I forced her to-" Nisha gets taken aback hearing that. Her eyes widened in shock. She stumbled.

Arnav came forward to hold her but she angrily shoved his hand.
