Love Never Gives Up
chapter 3
"The Shirt"
By: mike hurleyTy leaned over a cat bed in the recovery room at the Hudson Vet Clinic.
The room was dark & cold; but the cat bed was heated & the little creature inside was covered with a pretty pink blanket, slightly larger than her 5 month old size.Ty set his ear over her nose & checked her respiration.
Ty's little patient was still asleep from the anesthesia; a catheter drip had begun a regimen of pain killers, anti inflammatory meds & sedatives.
She had been a gift to a grandmother with a failing memory, the little cats exuberance was a welcome change in a quiet house. She filled it with constant play and meows, cuddles with purrs, and snuggles at night. But on a routine exam at the vets, it was discovered the beautiful & playful feline had a heart murmur, the kind that progressed quickly. The family decided their mom could not weather another death, after her husband of 46 years had passed just 4 months ago.
There was a good chance the grandmother's ahlzeimers would not even be aware her little cat was gone. But her heart would know all too well, she was alone. The heart knows many things, even when the brain cannot.
They needed a miracle and their vet had recommended a young surgeon up in Canada for the operation.
They drove up from Montana, and got a hotel room, in the small town of Hudson.
They had the surgeons card..........Dr Borden was known for his kindness and love for his patients. The young doctors reputation had spread fast.
He'd tackle surgeries other vets were afraid to preform.Amy was so proud of Ty; but now she barely spoke to him. She had no idea vets in the surrounding Provinces & States all knew her boyfriends name. Or that Dr Tyler Borden had been on the cover of the most recent
'Veterinarian Today' magazine. A big article inside profiled Ty, his schooling, experience, and his love of surgeries, even complex ones.Scott had been alarmed, all this National exposure meant 1 thing.....
Lots of vet offices across North America wanted something he had; a vet known locally as Dr Ty.
Ty had begun getting emails from vet offices across Canada & the States, seeking to hire him. But his heart was set on Newfoundland.
Ty closed his eyes & with his stethoscope, listened intently to the melodious rhythm of the little cat's heart.
🌹
Ty was using the stethoscope Amy had given him a few years ago; he had listened to Amy's heartbeat that morning. Amy was gorgeous as she smiled at Ty, as he listened to her heart.
It was a surreal moment, Amy encouraged Ty in little ways......like a brand new stethoscope, when he hadn't even graduated yet.
And it was a high end expensive model, that Amy really couldn't afford.
But she loved Ty & wanted him to think
of her whenever he used it.Ty thought of her all too often, even today, even right now. The more he tried to bury her image, the more she reappeared in his mind.
Ty more Ty tried to forget Amy, the more he needed her. It seemed a form of endless torture, contrived by some maniac. They used to make love every Saturday night; it was the one night a week, Amy slept with Ty up in his loft.
It was often freezing up there at midnight, and his bed was so tiny. But she snuggled up close with Ty and kissed him......
Their bodies closer than spoons in a silverware drawer. They kept each other warm, and so much more. But, Amy felt like a woman, every time Ty caressed her body, and spent long minutes kissing her & sucking her nipples. She watched and wondered why guys were so engrossed with women's breasts. But Ty's passionate sucking and kissing, ignited an inferno in Amy.
In just minutes, she longed for Ty, and yearned for him to gently penetrate her secret place.......
