Light Within Darkness

Riku's P.O.V

" Where am I?" I noticed I was floating around into the abyss. The last thing I remember is, Sora and the others closing the door to Kingdom Hearts. And the king and I stayed on the other side.

" Stay sleep." I heard a familiar voice one that I didn't want to hear anymore.

I gasped straighten myself up. " Who's there!?"

" You should remain asleep. Here, between light and dark."

" Between... what?" I muttered. " The king and Maya? Where are they? Together we closed the door to darkness. After that---" I asked seeing they weren't here.

" You came drifting here by yourself. You did not have the strength to overcome the darkness. Or... maybe you were close to it, Because of 'her'. "

I scuffed. " Hmph. As if I'm some kind of demon." I spat. Maybe I am. I-I did hurt Maya after all.

He chuckles. " Turn form the light. Shut your eyes. Here, blanketed by the darkness, sleep is safety. Sleep is eternal. But... "

A bright light appeared in front of my face revealing a wired looking object. " What's this?" I asked.

" It is a door to the truth. Take it and your sleep ends, as you take the first step toward the truth. But know this; the truth will bring you pain. Will you still go? There is no return to the security of sleep."

My eyes shut as I thought about. What more pain is there? There's nothing that will be more painful after what I have done to my friends. I took the card in my hands. " This seemed like a boring place to take a nap anyway."

" That was very well said, Riku.

The light shot from the card flashing my face.

When I re opened my eyes I was now in a wired place with white walls. " Gee, it sure took you long enough." I gasped hearing a familiar voice a few feet away from me. A huge wave of relief washed over me when I saw the girl standing there with her arms crossed.

" Maya!" I was glad to know she was okay.

" Where are we?" I asked hoping she would know.

" Hmm. I'm not really sure myself. I just followed this light and it lead me here." She said almost frowning but more like she was thinking. " What's that?" She pointed to the card I held in my right hand.

" Don't know." I told her.

She study me carefully then went towards the closed door in front of us. " Where are you going?" I asked her. " If wanna find out where the blazing place we are, might as well take a look around." She suggested.

I chuckled. "I guess you're right."

She grunts as she pulls on the door but it wouldn't budge. I couldn't help but laugh at her struggle. " Stupid door... it won't... open..." She pants sliding her back against it.

" Does someone need my help?" I teased her. She glares at me. "Like I need help from you."

I chuckled again as I held the card up towards the door. " Whoa!" She falls when the doors open. " You know... it's okay to ask for my help every once in a while." I patted her head.

Maya continues to pouts. " For your information, I'm still recovering my strength." She argues brushing my hand away. I laughed. " Sure you are." I walked through the door.

" Why did I have to be stuck with you!" She growls. She's cute when she's angry.

Going through the door Maya and I somehow found ourselves in Hallow Bastion. " This is Hallow Bastion." I said. " Why are we here?" Maya asked.
