Chapter 24

Amy's POV:

I can hardly believe it...I'm married..I'm fully mated! When I first came to this pack, I had no idea what to expect..I had no idea who I was. I definitely had no idea I'd find my mate. We've been through a lot together..Cayden and I our in our room, just sitting on the bed in each other's arms. We didn't speak. We knew what each other was thinking..quite literally. By the time we decided to go to bed, it was midnight. I crawled under the blankets into Cayden's arms, with a smile. "Goodnight, Amy.." he whispered before he fell asleep. "Goodnight, Cayden.." I snuggled into his arms and fell fast asleep. However....when I woke up, I wasn't in Cayden's arms or in our bed. I wasn't even in the pack house! I didn't know where I was..But it was cold and dark. "So, I see you've finally woken up.." a female voice said. "W-who are you?!" I demanded. "Oh? You don't remember me? I'm surprised..I was the one who treated your little mate exactly the way a pathetic Gamma like him, ought to be treated.." My eyes widened in fear and realization. "R-Ruby!?" I exclaimed. "But how?! Your supposed to be in our prison!" "Well, thanks to my beloved mate, I have been set free. Theodore, you can come out now," she said evily. Ruby and an evil looking man came out of the darkness. "Hello, Amy." the man said with a smirk. "You must be wondering why you are here." I nodded slightly, afraid of what he might say next. "Well, the answer is simple. You were blessed by the moon goddess. And we want your power.." he continued. I gasped in horror. "W-well, you can't have it! It was given to me! And it's impossible to extract some one's power!" I said, trying to sound confident. Ruby and Theodore laughed an evil laugh that sent chills up my spine. "J-Jill, it is impossible to extract power from some one....right?" I asked. "Yes, it is. Unless......." she stopped mid-sentence. "Unless what?!" I demanded. "Unless they somehow found a way to do it.." My eyes went wide in fear. "Amy, we have no time to lose. Mind-link Cayden now!" I nodded and set to work. They must have injected me with wolf's bane because it took several tries before I finally and successfully got the message through. "Trying to mind-link your pathetic, weak excuse for a mate?" Ruby taunted. I growled. Jill took over and tried to get out of the chair we were tied to. But, the more she pulled, the worse it hurt. Ruby and her mate smiled evily. "Jill..it's no use..They tied us with silver chords.." I told her. She sighed and gave me back control. "Your right, Amy..." she said. I looked at my captors. "So, you think it's impossible, eh? Well, that's where your wrong, dear little Amy." Theodore replied. "You see, we have finally found a way to do it. My father has known about you and your powers since you were born. He tried to find a way to get those abilities for himself, but he never could find a way." Ruby informed me. "So, when she became old enough, she continued the search her father started. When we found each other, we continued looking together. And we finally found out how!" Theodore continued. "How do you do it, if your so sure you can.." I asked, trying to stall for time. "Well, we transfer your blood to Ruby. The blood will mix with hers and after you die from lack of blood, the power will be hers!" They laughed their evil bone chilling laugh. "I've already used my ability to heal my mate, what else could you possible want with my power?" Ruby looked at me a smiled a scary, evil looking smile. "Well, for starters, I'd be getting that power you had when you were little. I could move things with my mind! And, I would have that ability to heal my mate. And, I would be semi-immune to wolf's bane and silver!" "What do you mean, semi-immune to wolf's bane and silver?" I asked confused. "So, your wolf hasn't told you? Well, we injected you with wolf's bane just to see what would happen. We injected you with enough to kill you.." I gasped as Theodore continued. "And, apparently, it didn't harm you! Also, you are tied with silver cords. When you don't move, they don't harm you. But, as you found out earlier, when you move, they harm you.." "Jill, why didn't you tell me?!" I asked while my captors were laughing like evil hyenas. "I-I didn't know myself...Please believe me, Amy.." I think the fact we pulled at the silver cords was starting to affect her..soon, it'd move to me! "It's ok..I believe you, Jill." I told her. "And, with your power inside of me, our baby will be born with your power!" Ruby rejoiced. "So..she's pregnant?!" I exclaimed to Jill. She nodded. "I guess that's why she appears a little different.." she stated. I never really looked at her at the battle..but now that I think of it, she could have been pregnant. Suddenly, I got a mind-link from Cayden. It was very faint. I think the silver was affecting it! "Amy! I woke up and you were gone! Then I got your mind-link! I tried several times to mind-link you, are you ok?! Where are you?!" I mind-linked him back with difficulty and pain. "I'm ok..They've tied me with silver cords to a chair. They want to extract my power from me by taking my blood and putting it in Ruby! Her mate got her out of the prison and together they kidnapped me. I don't really know where I am..but I think I'm outside the pack. It's cold and dark.." "Don't worry, Alex, Zack, Micah, Herold, and I are on our way. We're gonna find you! Hang in there, Amy!" "Please hurry! And please, don't harm Ruby..she's pregnant!" "Wait what?! How did the pack doctor miss that?! Alright, I promise to to hurt her........much." I smiled and was replying to him, but the connection went dead! The silver...it was working fast! "We'll give you only a few minutes to say goodbye to your power.." Theodore commented. "Don't try anything foolish." They left the room and I was all alone with a weak Jill. All alone in the cold, darkness.."Oh, Cayden, please come soon!" I thought to myself.

Cayden's POV:

"Wait, slow down. How does she plan to get Amy's power?" Herold asked. "She and Theodore are going to take Amy's blood and transfer it to Ruby. Then when Amy dies from lack of blood the power will be hers!" I said, panicked. Herold looked at me with a serious look in his eyes. "No, Amy won't die. Before she loses hardly any of her blood, the little bit that was transferred to Ruby, will harm Ruby..to the point of death. If we don't get her to a doctor fast, her baby will suffer the same fate." "And without Ruby...her mate will probably die too!" I exclaimed. "We have to hurry. Micah, which way now?!" Alex demanded. Micah, who was doing his best to track the weak scent, pointed to a trail that was barely even a trail at all. And..it led out of the pack. We ran all the way, Micah in the lead. I was not taking up the rear. I was right behind Micah. As much as I wanted to beat the living daylights out of Ruby and her mate, I promised Amy I wouldn't. I hoped as much as the others with me hoped, that we could get there in time to prevent a death, maybe two. Finally, we made it. "The trail stops here. I think their inside." Micah told us, pointing to a rundown old cabin. Suddenly, we heard a scream and a thud. "That wasn't Amy's scream..." I said slowly. "Oh no..." Zack whispered. "We were too late.." Flint declared. We burst inside the cabin. Ruby was lying motionless on the floor with a man holding her in his arms. "Probably her mate. "Cayden!" Amy cried out. She was sitting in a dark corner, tied to a chair. Zack took a pair of silver-proof gloves and put them on. After he had untied her, she ran over to me and hugged me tightly. Then, she hugged Zack, Alex, Micah, and Herold. I was a little jealous, but at this moment, I didn't pay much attention to it. "How dare you! Y-you killed my mate!" the man looked up at us and screamed. "No, we didn't..She did it to herself. When she took Amy's blood, she was setting herself up for death." "There's no helping her..is there..?" he asked slowly. Herold shook his head. The man growled, stood up and ran outside. He took a knife out of his pocket and raised it in the air. "Wait!" Amy screamed. "Your gonna be a dad! If we can find help, maybe we can save the baby!" "I don't care! I'd be without my mate and the brat would be powerless!" he exclaimed. And with that, he lowered the knife. I ran to stop him, for his sake and the child's sake, but, it was too late. He was gone.."We need to get Ruby to the pack doctor, fast.." I said quietly. "He's dead?" Amy asked. I nodded. Zack and Herold picked up Ruby and we all rushed back to the pack doctor. "What happened?!" the doctor asked, as Ruby was laid on a portable bed. "She tried to take Amy's blood and give it to herself. Please, do your best to save her baby." Alex said. "Baby!?" the doctor repeated in shock. We nodded. "I don't know how we missed that fact, but we shall do our best." he declared, wheeling her away. "Oh, please check Amy over. We want to be sure she is alright." The doctor nodded and had a nurse take Amy into a room. "I'll mind-link Kelly and tell her what's going on." Alex stated. Within ten minutes, Lia, Kelly, Genova, and Malia had arrived. The nurse came out at that moment and told us that Amy was alright. Amy came out of the room and was hugged by each of the girls. It was another hour before the pack doctor finally came out. "She's gone. I'm sorry." he told us. "How's the baby?" Micah asked. "He was born sick and premature. We'll do everything we can to save him. Where is his father?" "He's dead." Alex remarked. The doctor shook his head and went back to take care of his patients. "What will we do with the baby?" Malia asked. We thought for a while. "Cayden, if he survives, do you think..." Amy began. "We could take him?" I finished and smiled. "Alright. Alex, we'd like to adopt the baby. Is that alright?" Alex smiled and looked at Kelly then back at us. "Yes, Cayden. I think that would be a great idea." he responded. "Kelly and I will get some paper work ready for you to sign." Amy looked at me. She had a smile on her lovely face. I smiled back. We were going to become parents..Maybe not in the way we expected, but we were going to be parents!
